For the sake of counteracting arising, it is said in the sutra that craving arises in four ways: Bhikshus, when craving arises, it arises for the sake of Dharma robes, alms, and bedding. When abiding, it abides. When manifestly attached, it is attached. Bhikshus, when craving arises, it arises for arising and destruction, and so on, it is extensively taught. To counteract those, the noble counteractions are taught in sequence. Clinging to objects as "I," for the sake of its objects and the fourfold four, the meaning is shown by different names, that is, the objects clung to as "I" are Dharma robes and so on. The objects clung to as "self" are the body. Desire for those is existence. Among them, in order to pacify the desire for objects clung to as "I" in time, the three noble lineages are taught. In order to make both extremely pacified, the fourth lineage is taught. How is it? The completion of cultivation has already been explained. Thus, it becomes a vessel. Then how does one enter that cultivation? The way to enter it is through impurity and, through mindfulness of breathing in and out. Which ones enter through impurity? Which ones enter through mindfulness of breathing in and out? In sequence, it is through those with increasing desire and discrimination. These are desire and, when discrimination increases, whoever practices desire very closely enters through impurity. Whoever discriminates and contemplates enters through mindfulness of breathing in and out. Some say that because it focuses on various things, it is for cutting off discrimination, but impurity arises from discrimination because it focuses on the differences of color and shape. Others say that it is because it looks inward. Impurity, like eye consciousness, looks outward, because it is very aware of its object. Among them, there are four types of desire, namely, desire for color and desire for shape, as well as desire for intelligence and desire for intimacy. For the first counteraction, it is said to focus on impurity, separate discoloration, and so on. The second is separate consumption and, separate abandonment. The third is separate middle observation and, a skeleton connected to the sternum by tendons.

It is based on bones. The fourth is based on the immobility of a dead body. Without distinction, for all who are attached, it is bones. For the bones of bones, these four objects of attachment are all absent. Because of faith and focusing on one point, eliminating afflictions with impurity is not, but subduing. Also, such a practitioner of the yoga of contemplating impurity is said to be of three types: the initial practitioner, the one who has completely purified, and the one who has perfected mindfulness. Among them, the initial practitioner, up to a hundred seas, gathers and scatters bones. The practitioner of yoga who wishes to cultivate impurity, in order to generate faith, initially only fixes the mind on the toe of his own limb, or the part of the forehead, or wherever he likes. From there, he believes that flesh and blood rot and flow, and then gradually purifies the bones, at which time he views everything as the bones of bones. Similarly, for the second type, he also has faith, and then gradually believes that temples, monasteries, towns, fields, and places up to the edge of the ocean are filled with bones. Also, when gathering, in order to gather the mind, he believes that in his own solitary space there are bones of bones. Just this is the completion of impurity, so it is said, this is the yoga practice of the initial practitioner. From bones to half a skull, abandoning is said to be what has been purified. In order to particularly gather the mind, from that bone of bones, he abandons the bone of the foot, and then focuses on the remainder, and similarly gradually abandons half of the skull, and then focuses on half of the skull, this is what has been purified. Holding the mind in the middle of the eyebrows is the perfection of mindfulness. After abandoning that half of the skull, holding the mind in the middle of the eyebrows, this is the yoga practice of the perfection of impure mindfulness, so it is said. Also, what is the nature of this impurity? How many places are there? How many objects are there? Where does it arise? In order, non-attachment, ten desires appear, the object is produced by humans, impurity. The nature is non-attachment. The places are ten, the four dhyanas near
