Furthermore, it is said that afflictions are abandoned through seeing truth and cultivating the path. It is explained in detail that there are afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation. Now, should we say that the two paths of seeing and cultivation are without outflows or with outflows? Why do you ask this? Because the path of cultivation is twofold: that which is called seeing is without outflows. The path of cultivation is twofold: mundane and supramundane. The path of seeing is the antidote to the three realms, and because it abandons the nine aspects to be abandoned by seeing all at once, it is supramundane. Mundane paths do not have such power. If it is said that it comes from seeing the truth, then what are the truths? The truths are said to be four. Where is it said? In the context of showing with outflows and without outflows: "The truth of the path without outflows," thus the truth of the path is shown by its own name. "Whatever is the cessation of individual analysis, separation," thus the truth of cessation is shown. "Those suffering and arising, the world," there the truth of suffering and the truth of arising are shown. Is their order like this? It is said, no. Then how is it? Suffering and arising, similarly, cessation and path, it is like that. Their order is like that. The nature is as previously stated, and the word "similarly" is spoken to show it extremely. Furthermore, how is the order of their realization? Which truth is realized first is shown first. If it is not like that, then the cause is shown first and the result is shown later. Why are the truths realized in this way? Because one is attached to something, something harms, one seeks liberation from something, and in the stage of discriminating the very first thing, one fully understands the truth of suffering. Later, what is the cause of this? Thus, one understands the truth of arising. What is the cessation of this? Thus, one understands the truth of cessation. What is the path of this? Thus, one fully understands the truth of the path. Just like seeing a disease, thereby seeing its source and

It is like searching for a crow and searching for medicine. The example of the truths is also shown in this way in the Sutra. Which Sutra shows it? It is shown in the Sutra of the doctor with four limbs extracting the poisonous arrow. Because it has been thrown out before, just as one completely understands the truths in the stage of discriminating observation, so too, in the stage of direct realization, the truths are directly realized in the same way, just like a horse running unhindered on a plain seen in the open. What is the meaning of direct realization? It is to directly and truly awaken. Why is it without outflows and not with outflows? Because it is directed towards the direct realization of Nirvana and true awakening, and true means reality itself. When one aspect of feeling is the nature of suffering, why is it said that all contaminated formations are suffering? Pleasant and unpleasant, and other contaminated natures besides them, because they possess the three natures of suffering, therefore all without exception is suffering. There are three sufferings: the suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the suffering of conditioning. Through these, all contaminated formations are suffering accordingly. Among these, the pleasant is the suffering of the suffering of change. The unpleasant is the suffering of suffering. Other than that is the suffering of the suffering of conditioning. Except for the Noble Path, because incompatibility is the characteristic of suffering, therefore the Noble Path is not suffering. What is pleasant? What is unpleasant? What is neither? They are the three feelings in order. By its power, actions such as experiencing happiness also obtain the names of pleasant and so on. The Blessed One also spoke of the Four Noble Truths, and also spoke of the Ultimate Truth and the Conventional Truth, and also spoke of the Two Truths, so what is the nature of these two? What is destroyed by (reason) and what is eliminated by (wisdom) from others, the wisdom of that does not enter, like water in a vase, it is conventional.
