Because there is slow understanding, this is slow direct perception. Fast direct perception is also the same. Alternatively, this is because the sentient being has dull faculties, so direct perception is slow. Because the mind is sharp, direct perception is fast. This path obtains the name of the limbs of enlightenment, the thirty-seven limbs of enlightenment are the four mindfulnesses, the four right exertions, the four legs of miraculous power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, and the eight noble path branches. Among them, knowing the cessation and non-arising is, when knowing the cessation and non-arising of enlightenment, according to the difference of sentient beings, there are the enlightenment of the hearers, the enlightenment of the solitary Buddhas, and the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, called the three enlightenments. Because these two have completely abandoned all ignorance without remainder, and have accomplished their own benefit, and have truly realized the nature of non-existence. Because it is in accordance with it, the thirty-seven are of the same category. Because it is in accordance with enlightenment. From the point of view of names, it is called the thirty-seven limbs of enlightenment. The substance is ten. All the limbs of enlightenment are ten in substance, what are the ten? Faith and diligence, mindfulness, wisdom, samadhi, equanimity, joy, investigation and discipline are extremely gentle. If done in this way, then those substances are ten. How to make the distinction? Mindfulness is wisdom, diligence and right abandonment are said to be so, the legs of miraculous power are samadhi. Mindfulness and right abandonment, and the legs of miraculous power, are the nature of wisdom, diligence and samadhi. Therefore, for the time being, the five faculties and five powers, spoken by name, are the five substances of faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi and wisdom. Mindfulness and so on, and the branch of right discernment of dharma, and right view, are only wisdom. Right abandonment and so on, and the branch of right diligence of enlightenment, and right effort, are only diligence. Miraculous power

The feet of magical power, etc., and the limb of right concentration for enlightenment, right concentration is just concentration. The limb of right mindfulness for enlightenment, and right mindfulness is just mindfulness. What is the body? Joy and, great joy and, the limb of equanimity for enlightenment, and right thought, and the divisions of discipline, these five things. Thus, those that are in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment are ten things. According to the views of the Vaibhashikas, the actions of body and speech are different and of different kinds, so the divisions of discipline are two things, so there are eleven things. As it is said, mindfulness is close at hand etc. are the nature of wisdom, diligence, and concentration, etc. In what is said, it should be understood that the main point is being mentioned. These are: All the qualities that arise from practice are also. Because the main point is mentioned, it is said that mindfulness is close at hand, and right application, and the feet of magical power are all the qualities that arise from practice. Why is diligence called right application? Because it applies body, speech, and mind rightly. Why is concentration called the foot of magical power? Because it is the basis for practicing all qualities. According to those who say that magical power is just concentration, and desire, etc., are the feet, the aspects in accordance with enlightenment become thirteen things because desire and mind, etc., are increased. Monks, etc., also speak of magical power, and also speak of the feet of magical power, etc. What is magical power? Here, a monk experiences many kinds of magical power, and one becomes many, etc., which contradicts the sutra that speaks extensively in between. Why are the faculties alone also called the powers? Because of the difference between small and large, there is protection and no protection. What is the order of the faculties? Becoming a believer, one strives for diligence for the sake of the fruit. If diligence is exerted, then mindfulness
