Or is it meditation? Or is it liberation from the proximate path? There are nine places of birth in all, namely the desire realm, meditation, and the eight formless realms. Among them, those who are free from desire from between the two meditations and who transcend the three realms, their final path of liberation arises from the proximate concentration or the fundamental concentration. It does not arise from the proximate concentration of the higher realms. Those who transcend the three realms and above, because their equanimity is uncommon, arise only from the fundamental concentration, not from the proximate concentration. In the third meditation, because the experiences of the proximate concentration and the fundamental concentration are different, some people cannot enter meditation and fundamental concentration, because the change of experience is difficult. Therefore, for those who are free from desire from the three realms, their final path of liberation also arises from the proximate concentration. "With the unpolluted and invincible, one is free from desire from all." Thus it is said, but others have not said it, therefore it is said: "The noble ones, the eight, overcome their own higher ground." That is to say, with the unpolluted meditation and the special meditation and the eight formless meditations, one can be free from desire from one's own ground and the higher ground. It is not from the lower ground, because desire has already been abandoned. Thus, the supramundane uninterrupted path and the path of liberation, because they are based on truth, are those who have entered into the aspect of truth, thus it is established. The liberation of the mundane, and the order of the uninterrupted path, are of the nature of peace and so on, and roughness and so on. The paths of liberation are those with aspects such as peace, and the uninterrupted paths are those with aspects such as roughness and so on. Those also in order, are the objects of experience of the higher and the initial. The paths of liberation are, as appropriate, seeing the aspects of peace, splendor, and renunciation in the higher ground. The uninterrupted paths see the aspects of roughness, inferiority, and like a thick wall in the initial ground, because their manifestation is extremely strong, they are seen as rough. Because they are not splendid, they are seen as inferior, because there are extremely many bad states, they become incompatible.

Just like a seedling, because it will definitely not grow from that land, it should be regarded as a solid wall. The opposite of this is the state of tranquility, abundance, and certainty of arising. By the way, this is the end. Only the text should be stated: Furthermore, what arises after the knowledge of exhaustion? If from the immovable knowledge of exhaustion, the wisdom of non-arising arises. If an Arhat is one who possesses the Dharma of immovability, then immediately after his knowledge of exhaustion, the knowledge of non-arising arises. If not, from the knowledge of exhaustion, only the knowledge of exhaustion or the non-learning right view arises. Because there is a possibility of complete degeneration, it is not the wisdom of non-arising. Is it only non-arising for those who possess the Dharma of immovability? For all Arhats, for those who possess the Dharma of immovability, sometimes from the wisdom of non-arising, only the wisdom of non-arising arises, and sometimes the non-learning right view arises. What are the four fruits that are spoken of? They are the fruits of the path of a Shramana. What is the path of a Shramana? (Tibetan) The path of a Shramana is the path of stainlessness. One becomes a Shramana by pacifying afflictions, as it is said in the Sutra: "By this, sinful and unwholesome dharmas, up to the many forms of aging and death, are pacified." Therefore, it is called a Shramana. Ordinary beings cannot be permanently pacified, therefore they are not ultimate Shramanas. The fruits of the path of a Shramana are conditioned and unconditioned phenomena. These are also said to be of four types in the Sutra. Furthermore, there are eighty-nine of these. What are these? (Tibetan) Including the path of liberation and cessation. The eight uninterrupted paths that abandon what is to be abandoned by the path of seeing, the eight paths of liberation, and the nine grounds that abandon what is to be abandoned by the path of cultivation, each ground abandoning nine types of afflictions, are only those uninterrupted paths.
