Those included in the sphere of nothingness are twenty-eight, twenty-four, and twenty in number, respectively. This is because they do not focus on the cessation of the lower realms with the knowledge of the Dharma and subsequent knowledge. There is a focus on the antidote to the lower realms, as they are mutually causal. According to those who believe that the subsequent knowledge of the path also focuses on the antidote of each realm, adding twenty-eight, the Vajra-like Samadhi, which is included without being overcome, is eighty. It is similar up to what is included in the fourth Dhyana. The sphere of infinite space, etc., are forty, thirty-two, and twenty-four in order. Moreover, due to differences in lineage and faculties, there are very many. Whatever is abandoned by the Vajra-like Samadhi, which is said to be the ninth aspect of the peak of existence, that is the knowledge of exhaustion and the knowledge of cessation. The knowledge of cessation arises together with the attainment of that cessation of the ninth aspect. At the end of the Vajra-like Samadhi, the path of complete liberation arises. For that very reason, it is the knowledge of cessation because it arises together with the attainment of the exhaustion of all defilements at the very beginning. At that time, he is a non-learner Arhat. Moreover, that one who has entered the state of Arhat, having arisen the knowledge of cessation, attains the fruit of non-learning and Arhatship, because there is no need to learn for another fruit, hence he is a non-learner. For that very reason, he is an Arhat because he is fit to benefit others and fit to be venerated by all those with attachment. It is established that the other seven individuals previously mentioned are learners. Why are they learners? Because they are always in the nature of learning the three higher trainings—higher morality, higher mind, and higher wisdom—in order to exhaust the defilements. Those are the nature of morality, Samadhi, and wisdom. Would an ordinary person also become a learner? No, because they do not fully know the truth as it is, and also because they abandon learning. For that very reason, by all means

In order to know that it is specifically excluded that "learning is only learning what is learned, not abandoning learning," therefore, the Sutra says, "Learn the peaceful training; because of learning the training, it is called learning," thus it is said twice. What is the aspect of how a noble one naturally abides in learning? It is from the aspect of intention, just like abiding while walking on the path. It is also for the sake of obtaining and following. Furthermore, what are the dharmas of learning? They are the undefiled dharmas of learning. What are the dharmas of non-learning? They are the undefiled dharmas of non-learning. Why is Nirvana not learning? Because both the non-learner and the ordinary being possess it. Why is it not non-learning? Because both the learner and the ordinary being possess it. All of these are the four paths and abiding in the four fruits, only eight noble individuals, namely, entering the stream to realize the fruit of stream-entry, from stream-entry up to entering to realize the fruit of Arhatship, up to Arhatship. From the aspect of name, there are eight. From the aspect of substance, there are five, namely, the initial entrant and those abiding in the four fruits. The remaining entrants are not different from those abiding in the three fruits. Because of gradual attainment, it is said thus. If most and from desire, some are liberated from attachment, then they are once-returners in the path of seeing and those who have entered the fruit of non-return, but not stream-enterers and once-returners. In the stated path of meditation, there are two kinds, the mundane path and the supramundane path. From what does this learner obtain freedom from attachment? From the peak of existence by the supramundane path. Freedom from attachment is not by the mundane path. Why? Because there is no mundane path above that, and it is not its own antidote. Why is it not an antidote? Because its afflictions will increase, that is, whichever affliction increases on whichever object, that object is not used to abandon it.
