Then it enters in that way. Birth and, emerging from the fourth dhyana is entering, death and, entering the fourth dhyana is arising. These two, inhaling and exhaling, are called sentient beings. Those who are not counted as sentient beings are not. Because they are not included. Because they are different from the faculties. Arising from a similar cause. Because the body grows and then decays, and because it is interrupted and then reconnected, it arises from growth, not from maturation, because there is no such thing in the form of maturation. Lower. The mind cannot understand those two. Those two are understood by the mind of one's own ground and the higher ground, but not by the mind of the lower ground's behavioral mind and the snake's mind. The two doors of entry have been explained. Having obtained the samadhi of those two, in order to cultivate vipassana. One who has accomplished shamatha, should cultivate mindfulness. How to cultivate? For body, feeling, mind, and phenomena, completely examine with two characteristics. For body, feeling, mind, and phenomena, completely examine as self-characteristics and general characteristics, their self-characteristic is their own nature. The general characteristics are that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, all contaminated phenomena are suffering, all phenomena are emptiness and selflessness. What is the self-nature of the body? It is the four elements and what is made from the four elements. Other than the three are phenomena. Through samadhi, seeing dust particles and moments in the body, therefore the mindfulness of the body is accomplished, so it is said. Again, what is the nature of mindfulness? Mindfulness has three aspects, namely the mindfulness of nature, relation, and object. Among them, the mindfulness of nature is wisdom. What kind of wisdom? It arises from hearing and so on. Arising from hearing, arising from thinking, arising from meditation. Mindfulness also has three aspects, namely arising from hearing, thinking, and meditation. Others are from relation and object. Other phenomena that arise together with it are the mindfulness of relation.

Where are they? The objects of those are the objects of mindfulness. The mindfulness of self-nature is wisdom. From where does this come? Because it is said in the sutras that observing the body in the body is mindfulness. What does "observing" mean? It is wisdom, which observes in accordance with it. Thus, it is also said to abide observing the body in the inner body. Therefore, there is observation of this, that is, there is seeing, so it is observation. Observing the body in the body is observing the body in accordance with the body. Why is wisdom called mindfulness? The Vaibhashikas say that it is because the element of mindfulness is greater, just as wooden children grasp things, because it arises by generating the power of mindfulness. This is their saying. This is also possible, because it establishes mindfulness, so mindfulness is wisdom, just as it manifests what is seen. Thus, The venerable Unobstructed also said: Abiding observing the body in the body, his mindfulness focused on the body abides, truly abides, thus extensively explained. The Blessed One also said: Abiding observing the body in the body, his mindfulness abides and is completely unconfused. From where, monks, how do the mindfulnesses arise and cease? The Blessed One said: When food arises, the body arises, and when food ceases, the body ceases. From there, it is said that the object is mindfulness, because mindfulness abides in it. The names of these are like the objects. Because these focus on one's own, others', and both continuums, each has three aspects. The order is like the arising. Why does it arise like that? The Vaibhashikas say: Because the gross is seen first. Or like this, the basis of attachment to desire is the body, and it is also for manifesting the desire for feeling. And it is also because the mind is not pacified. And it is also because afflictions have not been abandoned. This is their saying. Four as antidotes to perversion: purity, happiness, permanence, and self.
