It is so. Mount Sumeru is of the nature of four precious things: the nature of gold, the nature of silver, the nature of lapis lazuli, and the nature of crystal. Each of the four faces corresponds to one of these natures. Whichever face of Mount Sumeru is of which nature, by the power of that, the sky on that face also appears in that color. Its face, the side of Jambudvipa, is of the nature of lapis lazuli, and by the color of that light, the sky here also appears as the color of lapis lazuli, so it is said. Furthermore, how do those arise? On the land of the nature of gold, a continuous rain falls, and those waters containing various kinds of seeds within them, when scattered by winds possessing various kinds of power differences, then they become those mountains. They transform in this way, transforming as unopposed causes for the production of differences in various kinds of different fruits. It is not like the transformation of the Samkhyas. What is the transformation of the Samkhyas like? When a substance exists, if another dharma recedes, then another dharma arises. What fault is there in this? For the differentiation of the dharmas of whichever existing thing is to be examined, that dharmic nature itself does not exist. They say that another dharmic nature arises from the dharmic nature. Is it merely that that dharma transforms into another that is transformation? Even so, it is not reasonable. What is unreasonable in this? "That is this, and this is not that," this way of speaking has not occurred before. Like that, the gold and so on that arise, gathered by the winds produced by the power of..., form heaps, and those also become mountains, and also become continents. Mount Sumeru and the mountains surrounding it sink eighty thousand yojanas into the water. Those sink in the place where there are eighty thousand yojanas of water on the land of gold. Above the water, also, the yojanas are eighty thousand. Thus, the height of Mount Sumeru is one hundred and sixty thousand yojanas. The height of the eight mountains is halved respectively. How high Mount Sumeru rises above the water, half of that height is Yoke-Holder Mountain, which is forty thousand yojanas, and half of that height is Axle-Holder Mountain. Like that, for the other mountains as well, the Ring-Holder Mountain... half of it is...

Furthermore, it is understood that the height of three hundred and thirteen is reduced by half and half. Those widths are equal to the height. Those that rise above the water are the same in width. This is the meaning of the word "width." The seven between them are the Playful Oceans. The seven between those mountains that reach the circumference are the seven Playful Oceans, filled with water possessing eight qualities. That water is cool, delicious, light, soft, clear, odorless, does not harm the throat when drunk, and does not harm the stomach when drunk. Also, among those, the first is eighty thousand. The first Playful Ocean between Mount Meru and Yoke-Holder Mountain is eighty thousand yojanas in width. That is the inner ocean. There are two oceans, inner and outer. That Playful Ocean is the inner ocean. Its surface is three times. The width is said to be eighty thousand yojanas. The surface is three times when counted from the side of Yoke-Holder Mountain, which is two hundred and forty thousand yojanas. The other Playful Oceans are half and half. The second Playful Ocean between Yoke-Holder Mountain and Axle-Holder Mountain is half of the first, which is forty thousand yojanas. The third is half of that, until the seventh Playful Ocean is one thousand two hundred and fifty yojanas. The other Playful Oceans are reduced by half and half. The length of those is not counted because it is so vast. The remainder is the great outer ocean. What is the remainder? That between the Circumference Mountain and the surrounding area is the great outer ocean, filled with salty brine. That width is three hundred and twenty-two thousand yojanas. There, the four faces of Mount Meru are the four continents. There, Jambudvipa has three faces, two thousand yojanas, shaped like a chariot. Its three faces are two thousand yojanas each, and its shape is like a chariot. In its center is the golden essence ground, where the Bodhisattva enters and generates diamond-like samadhi, the Vajra Seat is manifestly accomplished, which cannot be endured by the body or other places.
