If asked, what is the name that is widely known in the world? It is that which enables people to understand this and that thing, such as cows, horses, shapes, tastes, and so on. So, why is it just a name? Because the name is attached to these things. Others say: Here, abandoning the body and turning to another birth, therefore, name is not a form aggregate. The six sense sources have already been explained. Now, touch is to be discussed, that is, from the touch arising from the gathering of the eye faculty to the touch arising from the gathering of the mind faculty. These are also, arising from gathering, are born from the gathering of the three: faculty, object, and consciousness. For the time being, since they arise simultaneously, it is also reasonable for the five faculties to be combined with objects and consciousness. So, how do the mind faculty, which is the nature of the cessation of phenomena, and the future and present mind consciousness combine? Whatever is the entity of cause and effect, that itself is their combination. Or, all three of these are consistent in producing touch, therefore, the meaning of the same result is the meaning of combination. On this, the views of scholars differ. Some say: The gathering itself is touch. Here, they cite the source of the sutras, saying that these three dharmas are interconnected, gathered, and assembled, and that is touch. Others say: Only other dharmas that are in accordance with the mind are touch. Here, they cite the source of the sutras, saying, what are the six sets of dharma categories? Namely, the six internal sense sources, the six external objects, the six aggregates of consciousness, the six aggregates of touch, the six aggregates of feeling, and the six aggregates of craving. Here, the aggregate of touch is shown to be separate from the faculty, object, and consciousness. To those who say that the gathering itself is touch, they answer thus: Because it is shown to be separate, it is not only existing separately, feeling and craving will also come to exist separately from the birth place of dharmas. This is without fault, except for those other dharmas.

because there are also sources of origin. Like that, what else is there to say here? Other than the three that have become contact, there are no other three. If there are roots and objects without consciousness, then there is no consciousness without roots and objects. Therefore, since the three have already been stated, saying contact again becomes meaningless. Some say that the eye and all forms are the cause of all eye consciousness, and all eye consciousness is not the result of the eye and all forms, therefore, whatever are the objects of cause and effect are established as objects of contact. Some say that contact is different from assembly, then how to answer the sutra that says these three dharmas are related and assembled, and whatever is the collection is contact? They would not say that. Or they say that this is establishing the result on the cause. This statement extends to very many aspects, so it is enough to mention it in passing. The Dharmalakṣaṇas say that contact is the only other. Among these six contacts, five are obstructive contacts, and the sixth is called verbal expression. The assembly of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body, these five contacts are called obstructive contacts because they rely on obstructive roots. The sixth, the contact arising from the assembly of mind, is called the contact of verbal expression. Why? Because name is verbal expression. This is the special object here. Therefore, it is called the contact arising from the assembly of verbal expression. As it is said, eye consciousness can recognize blue, but cannot recognize "is blue", while mind consciousness can recognize both blue and "is blue". One is distinguished by reliance, and the second is distinguished by object. Others say that mind consciousness enters into things by following language, but the first five do not, therefore it is verbal expression. The contact that corresponds to this is the

The so-called differential touch, one is well distinguished by relying on it. The second is said to be well distinguished by being corresponding. Moreover, those six touches themselves transform into three: knowing, unknowing, and other touches. The touch of knowing, the touch of unknowing, and the touch that is different from these two, which is neither knowing nor unknowing. Those should also be understood in order as: immaculate, afflicted, and remaining. The touch of knowing is the touch without outflows. The touch of unknowing is the touch with afflictions, because it corresponds to knowing and unknowing. The remaining touch is neither knowing nor unknowing, because it does not correspond to both. What is the hand? It is the good with outflows and the uncovered and unindicated. If it is said that the touch of unknowing repeatedly appears, only one aspect is mentioned, and the touch becomes two types: the touch of resentment following. Because it corresponds to resentment and following. If everything is summarized, there are three types such as feeling pleasure. That is, the touch of feeling pleasure, the touch of feeling suffering, and the touch of feeling neither pleasure nor suffering. Because it has the same cause as feeling pleasure and so on. Or, because it can be felt or experienced, it is feeling. What is that? It is sensation. Because there is feeling pleasure here, it is the touch of feeling pleasure, that is, the sensation with feeling pleasure. Similarly, it should be applied to feeling suffering and feeling neither pleasure nor suffering. Those are sixteen touches. Touch has been described. Next, sensation will be described. Among them, the six touches mentioned earlier, the six sensations arising from them. That is, the sensation arising from the touch produced by the aggregation of the eye sense, and the sensation arising from the touch produced by the aggregation of the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind senses. Among these sensations, five are of the body, and the other is of the mind. The five sensations arising from the touch produced by the aggregation of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body are for the form sense.
