Manifested by afflictions and karma, with the continuity of the intermediate state, it enters the womb like an oil lamp. The aggregates are momentary, and for those afflictions and karmas that have no power to transmigrate, the aggregates that are completely perfumed by them, merely with the name of the intermediate state, continuously enter the mother's womb, just as an oil lamp, although momentary, goes to another place continuously, so there is no fault. Therefore, just as with selflessness, it is also the continuity of the aggregates manifested and assembled by afflictions and karma that enters the mother's womb, and this statement is established. Also, like what is thrown, the continuity is gradual, and after birth, by karma and afflictions, it goes to other worlds. Because the karma of life is different, the throwing of all the continuities of the aggregates is not the same, therefore, no matter how long it is thrown, it will gradually arise. In what order? The scriptures say: First it is in a congealed state, from the congealed state arises a soft state, from the soft state arises a hard state, from the hard state arises limbs, hair, body hair, nails, etc., the visible senses and the veins arise in order. The stages of congealed, soft, hard, and limb growth mentioned in the text are the five stages of the fetus. In addition, at other times, when the pain of the fetus is completely ripe, who in the womb transforms the pain of the fetus, turns it to face the impure gate of the mother's body, and places it there? It is the wind born from the ripening of karma that rises, and when it hides from that position, the hard impure thing is as difficult to move as a very large piece of feces. If sometimes the mother's diet and behavior are inconsistent, or due to the fault of previous karma, she will die in the womb. Then, the woman who knows these things, or the young doctor, smears ghee, or a little sesame oil, or grinds costus root into powder, or anything else on her hands, and then inserts a sharp and thin probe, like a cesspool, disgusting, smelly, dark...

and other mud creatures such as maggots, are extremely numerous, numbering in the thousands. They are constantly seeping and need to be cleaned constantly. Semen, blood, pus, and filth saturate it, completely decaying, festering, suppurating, and swelling. It is terrifying to see, with broken skin covered by a thin membrane. Due to the maturation of previous karma, great wounds are born on the body, and one inserts their hand into them, cutting off and extracting limbs and organs. Again, because the retribution of previous karma will be experienced in other instances, they are forcibly led away. However, if one is born comfortably, then the mother who desires a child, or her maidservants, will take the newly born body, like a fresh wound, with hands that have a touch like weapons and ash powder, and wash it. They nourish it with breast milk and fresh butter, and gradually accustom it to eating coarse food. Because of the cause of birth, when the senses mature, they again fully indulge in afflictions, and karmas are also accumulated. When their bodies disintegrate, they again, as before, go to the next world through the continuum of the intermediate state. The wheel of existence has no beginning. Therefore, birth arising from the cause of karma and afflictions, and again the karma and afflictions arising from that, and again the births arising from that, therefore one should recognize that the wheel of existence has no beginning. If one investigates a beginning, then it would follow that its cause is non-existent. If the non-existence of a cause were the only thing, then all of this would become merely without cause, but in different places and times, one sees sprouting and so forth from seeds, and the power of burning and so forth from fire, therefore there is nothing that arises from no cause. To say that there is speculation about a cause has already been refuted. Therefore, the beginning of samsara is only non-existent. Because birth depends on a cause, the exhaustion of the cause can be considered to have an end, just like sprouting from the exhaustion of a seed. Thus, what is shown as the third stage of the continuum of aggregates, is the three parts of the twelve branches of dependent origination. Among them, the twelve branches are ignorance and...

Actions, consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, and old age and death, these three are the past extreme, the future extreme, and the middle, which are the past, future, and present arising phenomena. Among these three, how are the twelve links established? The past and future extremes each have two. Ignorance and actions are the past extreme, birth and old age and death are the future extreme, and the remaining eight are the middle. Furthermore, does every birth have these eight links? The answer is no. Then who has them? It is the one who possesses completeness. Because this possesses completeness, it is the one who is completely endowed. Here, it refers to a certain person who touches all these states of difference, not just dying in the intermediate state, nor acting in the form and formless realms. For example, in the Great Discourse on Origination, it says, "Ananda, if consciousness did not enter the mother's womb," therefore, it only refers to the person who acts in the desire realm. When is dependent origination spoken of as the past extreme and the future extreme in two ways? At that time, the seven links up to feeling are the past extreme, and the five are the future extreme, because the past and future extremes, as well as the result and cause, etc., are mentioned. Furthermore, what are these, such as ignorance? Ignorance is the past extreme of affliction. The state of affliction in the previous life is what is called ignorance, because they act together, and because of its power, those all universally arise, just like saying the king has passed away, then his attendants will also come. Actions are the previous karma. Connected with the state, the state of meritorious and other karmas in the previous life is what is called actions, that is, by what karma it ripens here. Consciousness is the connecting aggregate. At the moment of connection in the mother's womb, the five aggregates are consciousness.
