Those arising from attainment and cultivation, and those that are innate. Those arising from thought do not exist. Whenever one begins to contemplate those, at that time, only the samadhi of those is closely abiding. In the formless realm, there are those arising from cultivation and those that are innate. Among them, except for those that are innate, after the five types of attention, the noble path will manifest, because it depends on effort. After the path, the innate that operates in the desire realm will also manifest, because it is clear. Among the twelve types of consciousness that have been explained, which consciousness can obtain how many? The afflicted in the three realms can obtain six, six, and two. If the afflicted mind operating in the desire realm manifests, it will be obtained from not being associated with these six types of consciousness, because doubt will interrupt the nature of the root of virtue, and from returning from the realm, the virtue of the desire realm, and from returning from the realm, and from complete degeneration, the non-virtue, and those that are obscured and unspecified, and the afflicted operating in the form realm, and from complete degeneration, the afflicted operating in the formless realm, and the learner. The afflicted operating in the form realm can also obtain six, from returning from the realm, obtaining the three operating in the form realm, and the unspecified unobscured operating in the desire realm, and from complete degeneration, the afflicted operating in the formless realm, and the learner. The afflicted operating in the formless realm can obtain two, from complete degeneration, obtaining the afflicted itself, and the learner. The virtue born in the form realm has three. The virtue operating in the form realm can obtain three types of consciousness, namely the virtue itself, and those that are unspecified and unobscured operating in the desire and form realms. The learner has four. The learner itself, and when the noble path separates the desire and form realms from desire, those that are unspecified and unobscured operating in the desire and form realms, and the virtue of the formless realm. The remaining ones. Because it is made into the remainder, it is the remainder. For those for which it has not been said which consciousness can obtain, it should be regarded as obtaining that itself. For others, there is no difference, it is affliction.

Regarding the mind that possesses, the wise say there are nine attainments. In a virtuous mind, there are six, and it is the same for an indeterminate mind. It is explained that, in that case, there are seven in an unwholesome mind, and it should be said like that. Connecting the very nature of the root of virtue with right view, from the virtue practiced in the desire realm and being free from desire, from the unobscured and indeterminate practiced in the desire and form realms, and that is obtaining the samadhi of existence, from the virtue practiced in the form and formless realms, and when entering the state of Arhat through that, there are those in training and those not in training. The remainder should be understood through this very explanation. The summarizing verses are: arising and entering into samadhi, being free from desire and complete decline, when connecting the very nature of virtue, the mind is not attained from having. The chapter on conditions is complete. The second chapter, called "Explanation of the Faculties," from the explanation of the Treasury, is complete. Now, having made the explanation of the mind and so on, which is the very determination of the desire, form, and formless realms, it should be stated what those desire, form, and formless realms are. Therefore, it is said: hell beings, pretas, animals, humans, and the six gods, this is called the desire realm. The four abodes and the six classes of gods, namely, the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the No Strife, the Joyful, the Delighting in Emanation, and the Controlling Others' Emanations. Thus, those together with the vessel world are the desire realm. How many places are there in that? Hell and the division of continents, therefore it is said that there are twenty. Connect with the remainder of the word "places." There are eight great hells, namely, the reviving hell, the black line hell, the crushing hell, the crying hell, the great crying hell, the hot hell, the very hot hell, and the uninterrupted hell. The four continents, namely, Jambudvipa, Purvavideha, Aparagodaniya, and Uttarakuru. The six classes of gods just mentioned, pretas, and animals. Thus, the places from the Controlling Others' Emanations up to the Uninterrupted Hell.
