Apart from the fruit of (supernormal) knowledge, only one's own pure (mind). The subsequent arising of the afflicted is nine: the virtues in the desire realm, etc., and the afflicted ones, i.e., four, and one's own five, apart from the fruit of supernormal knowledge. This arises as the subsequent arising of eleven minds: the innate (mind) in the desire realm, and the behavioral (mind), and those born from maturation, and one's own five apart from the fruit of supernormal knowledge, and three that operate in the formless realm apart from those arising from fabrication. The subsequent arising of the behavioral (mind) is seven: the afflicted ones that operate in the desire realm, and those arising from fabrication, and one's own four apart from the fruit of supernormal knowledge, and the afflicted ones that operate in the formless realm. This arises as the subsequent arising of five: only one's own pure (mind) apart from the fruit of supernormal knowledge. The mind born from maturation should also be spoken of in the same way. The subsequent arising of the fruit of supernormal knowledge is two: one's own arising from fabrication, and the fruit of supernormal knowledge itself. This also comes only from themselves. Now, the four that operate in the formless realm are to be spoken of: the subsequent arising of those arising from fabrication is seven: those arising from fabrication that operate in the form realm, and one's own four, and the trainees, and the non-trainees. This arises as the subsequent arising of six minds: those arising from fabrication that operate in the form realm, and one's own three apart from those born from maturation, and the trainees and non-trainees, etc. The subsequent arising of the innate (mind) is seven: one's own four, and the afflicted ones of the lower realms, etc. This comes from four: only from themselves. The subsequent arising of the afflicted is eight: one's own four, and those arising from fabrication that operate in the form realm, and the afflicted ones, etc., and the afflicted ones that operate in the desire realm. This arises as the subsequent arising of ten: one's own four, and the innate (mind) that operates in the desire and form realms, and the behavioral (mind), and those born from maturation, etc. The subsequent arising of the mind born from maturation is six: one's own three apart from those arising from fabrication, and the lower (realm).

There are three kinds of afflictions. That is from four, namely from one's own purity alone. In the aftermath of the trainee, there are six, namely those arising from the fabrications of the three realms, and obtaining a place of birth in the desire realm, and the trainee and the non-trainee. That is from four, namely the three arising from fabrication, and from the trainee. In the aftermath of the non-trainee, there are five, just like the aftermath of the trainee, except for the trainee alone. That is from five, namely the three arising from fabrication, and from the trainee and the non-trainee. Why is it that in the aftermath of the mind arising from fabrication, the mind born from maturation, and the mind of deportment, and the mind abiding in crafts arise, but the mind arising from fabrication is not from those? Because those are engaged in the manifestation of deportment and crafts, and are weak, and enter without manifestation, they are not in accordance with the aftermath of arising from fabrication. The mind that arises enters without manifestation, so it is reasonable for it to arise in the aftermath of the mind arising from fabrication. If that is the case, then fabrications will not arise from afflictions either, because they are not compatible. However, since afflictions arise universally, for complete renunciation, it is reasonable for fabrications to become manifest from completely knowing it. For obtaining a place of birth in the desire realm, because of clarity, the aftermath of the trainee and the non-trainee, and the fabrications arising from the form realm will arise, but because they arise without manifestation, those will not arise from that. In the aftermath of the afflictions of the form realm, obtaining a place of birth in the desire realm will arise, because of clarity. In the aftermath of the afflictions of the formless realm, obtaining a place of birth in the form realm will not arise, because of lack of clarity. There are three kinds of attention: attention to one's own characteristics, for example, thinking that form is of the nature of being liable to harm, and so on. Attention to the general characteristics is endowed with sixteen aspects. Resolution attention is impurity and

And also the immeasurable, the liberation of the formful, the abodes of victory, the abodes of totality, and so forth. Here, after the three kinds of attention, the noble path manifests, and from this also there are three kinds of attention. Thus, one cultivates the impure and the simultaneous mindfulness, which are limbs of perfect enlightenment, this is reasonable. Others say that only after the general attention does the noble path manifest, and from this there are three kinds, after subduing the mind with the impure, after the general attention, the noble path manifests, therefore, from the lineage, it is considered that cultivating the impure and the simultaneous mindfulness are limbs of perfect enlightenment. Others say that after the noble path, it is only the general attention. If one enters into certainty relying on the three, such as the unimpeded, then if one wants to manifest the attention of desire-realm conduct after those paths, then how would it be? If one enters into certainty relying on the second dhyana and so forth, then how would it be? Because it is extremely long, desire-realm conduct is not possible. If it is not in accordance with the aspects of ascertainment, then one will not obtain them. The noble ones also do not manifest what is in accordance with the aspects of ascertainment, because it is not reasonable to manifest the application of one who has already obtained the fruit. From this, one will obtain other general attentions similar to it, such as all compounded things are impermanent, all phenomena are without self, nirvana is peace, etc., then it will manifest. Thus, it is not said. The mind capable of attaining arhatship by relying on the unimpeded is its ground or desire-realm conduct. What is attained by relying on the sphere of nothingness is its ground or the peak of existence. In the remaining grounds, it is only one's own ground. In the desire realm, there are three kinds of attention, namely those arising from hearing and thinking, and those obtained from birth. In the form realm, there are three.
