Except for the teachings. Among the eight obscurations, the mind that operates in the form realm, which is obscured and unindicated, arises from eight, except for the two afflictions that operate in the desire realm, and the two learners and non-learners. Among these, six obscurations that operate in the form realm and are unindicated are followed by six, namely the three grounds of oneself, and all except those that operate in the desire realm and are unobscured and unindicated. The unobscured arises from three. The unobscured and unindicated that operates in the form realm arises only from three, namely only from one's own grounds. From this, six arise, namely one's own three grounds, and the afflictions that operate in the desire realm, and the afflictions that operate in the formless realm. As it has been said, the unobscured and unindicated of the form realm, the formless realm is also the same. The unobscured and unindicated that exists there also arises only from one's own three grounds, and from that also arise one's own three grounds, and the afflictions of the lower grounds, and six. From virtuous minds, nine minds arise. From the virtuous mind that operates in the formless realm, nine minds arise, except for the virtuous mind that operates in the desire realm, and the unobscured and unindicated that operate in the desire and form realms. That is six. The virtuous mind that operates in the formless realm arises from one's own three grounds, and the virtuous mind that operates in the form realm, and the learners and non-learners. From obscurations, seven arise. From the obscurations that operate in the formless realm arise one's own three grounds, and the virtuous mind that operates in the form realm, and obscurations, and the two afflictions that operate in the desire realm. That is so. That also arises only from seven, except for the afflictions that operate in the desire and form realms, and the learners and non-learners. From the four learners arise the virtuous mind of the three realms, and the learners. From this, five arise. Those four themselves, and the non-learners. The non-learners arise from five. From those five just mentioned. From this, four minds arise. The mind of the non-learners is followed by four minds, the virtuous mind of the three realms, and the non-learners. The twelve minds are complete. Again, those twelve.
