And act, causing the causes of maturation to function. Briefly, the cause and condition are like this. Other conditions are contrary to this. The immediately preceding condition and the objective condition should be understood as contrary to the two aspects of the causal condition as explained by whatever mode of action. The immediately preceding condition acts on arising in order to sever. The objective condition acts on cessation because it is apprehended by the present mind and mental factors. The dominant condition abides in the nature of non-obstruction at all times, so its function is just this. The conditions have been explained together with their functions. Furthermore, what phenomena are produced by how many conditions? Mind and mental factors are produced by four conditions. Among these, the causal condition is all five causes. The immediately preceding condition is the mind and mental factors that are not interrupted between the previous moment and other moments. The objective condition is the five objects and all phenomena as appropriate. The dominant condition is all phenomena except for its own nature. Two attainments are produced by three conditions. The cessation and non-conceptual attainments do not have an objective condition, because they are not objects. The causal condition for these two is of two kinds: the co-emergent cause, such as arising, and the similar cause, which is the previously arisen virtuous dharma of the same ground. The immediately preceding condition is that which is of the same kind and possessed by the mind of attainment. The dominant condition is as before. These attainments arise from the manifestation of mind, so they are the immediately preceding condition of mind, but they are not the immediately preceding condition because they obstruct the arising of mind. Others are produced from two conditions. Non-associated phenomena and form are produced from the causal condition and the dominant condition. Things are only produced from the causes and conditions as described above. The single cause of all beings, such as Ishvara, Purusha, and Prakriti, does not exist. This is the determination.

What is the meaning of that? If you think it is established by reasoning, then didn't he utter the statement that "the cause of everything is Īśvara (自在天) and so on, all at once"? Furthermore, Because Īśvara (自在) and so on are not gradual, etc. If Īśvara (自在天) or anything else is the only cause, then all beings should arise simultaneously. However, things appear to arise gradually. This is because of Īśvara's (自在天) will, i.e., "this should arise now, this should cease now, this should arise later." If so, then because of different wills, multiple causes will be established. And the difference in wills, because its cause—Īśvara (自在天)—has no difference, should arise simultaneously. If it depends on other causes, then Īśvara (自在天) is not the cause at all. Moreover, these things that arise gradually, because they depend on the differences of other causes, will lead to the fault of being endless, because it is admitted that the endless differences of transmission from one cause to another are beginningless. Therefore, this belief that Īśvara (自在天) is the cause does not go beyond the body of the son of the Śākyas (Buddha). If Īśvara's (自在天) wills are simultaneous, beings are not simultaneous, because wills arise in sequence, then it is not so, because there is no difference later for them. For the time being, what is the meaning of finding the labor of Īśvara's (自在天) giving? If it is said to be for pleasure, then it is inevitably impossible to do, therefore he is not Īśvara (自在天), and it is the same for others. If Īśvara (自在天) takes out many things that harm beings and foolishness from hell and so on, and is happy because of it, then I prostrate to such an Īśvara (自在天). Starting from that, Because he burns everything, Because he is cruel, because he is violent, Because he has suffering, for what reason, He eats flesh, drinks blood, and devours marrow. Therefore he is called a violent one. This verse is also well spoken. Moreover, if the cause of beings is completely clung to as one, then the manifestation of the person (Pudgala) of other things will be denied. For Īśvara (自在天) who has all the causes, also
