It should be said. Non-prior arising conditioned phenomena are the result of the possessor of conditioned phenomena. Conditioned phenomena that are different from what existed before are the result of all possessors of conditioned phenomena. If one asks, what is the difference between the result of a producer and the result of a possessor? The result of a producer belongs to the agent. The result of a possessor also belongs to a non-agent, for example, the craftsmanship of artisans is both the result of a producer and the result of a possessor. For others, it is only the result of a possessor. Furthermore, among these causes, which cause holds or produces the result at what time? The five hold the result now. Because they have already been completely held, they are not past, and because they are not producers, they are not future either. The acting cause is also similar to this, but it is not necessarily accompanied by a result, so it is not mentioned. Two produce excellently. Co-emergent and concordant causes produce the result now, and the holding and producing of the result of these two occur at the same time. The present and the past produce the result, namely, equipotent and pervasive causes. For the time being, what is past is the type that is present. If one asks, how does a homogeneous cause produce the result? Because it is accomplished subsequently, if the result has been accomplished, then they are also past, and the result has already arisen, so it does not produce it again. If one asks, is there a virtuous equipotent cause that holds the result but does not produce it? There are four possibilities. The first possibility is those attainments that abandon everything at the end by completely severing the root of virtue. The second is those attainments that obtain everything at the beginning by connecting the nature of the roots of virtue. It should not be said that they themselves connect the nature. The third is in the remaining states where the root of virtue has not been completely severed. The fourth is those that do not include those aspects. The first possibility of non-virtue is those attainments that possess the attainment of being free from desire and attachment, which abandon everything at the end.

Secondly, which are those that are first attained of all by complete falling away from detachment from desire for desire? It should be said, "It is indeed those that have completely fallen away." Thirdly, in the remaining stages of detachment from desire for desire. Fourthly, it excludes those kinds. For that which is obscured and not declared, likewise, it should be combined accordingly from the attainment of Arhatship and complete falling away. For that which is not obscured and not declared, it is combined with the subsequent words. That which is temporarily given is also that which is grasped. There are also those that grasp but do not give, namely, the final aggregates of an Arhat. Determination with an object refers to each moment. The fruit of equal share of virtue that is grasped but not given is called the fourfold mode. The first mode is the manifestation of an afflicted or undeclared mind at the end of a virtuous mind. The second is the opposite. The third is only virtue at the end of a virtuous mind. The fourth excludes those kinds. Non-virtue and so forth should also be combined in the same way. Furthermore, how is the fruit grasped? Because it approaches the entity of its seed. One is given by the past. The result of maturation is given only by the past, for there is no maturation simultaneously or immediately following. Others also explain four kinds of fruit. The fruit of support is like the sphere of wind to the sphere of water, up to the root of the earth and so forth. The fruit of conjoining is like from the unattractive to the knowledge of non-arising. The fruit of aggregation is like the eye and so forth to the eye consciousness and so forth. The fruit of meditation is like the emanation mind of the path acting in the form realm. All of this is included in the fruits of personal action and sovereignty. The causes and fruits have been explained. Then, what dharma is produced by how many causes? It is said: In short, the dharmas are these four types, namely:

That is, defiled dharmas, as well as dharmas born from maturation, as well as uncontaminated roots, as well as their remainders. What are the remainders? Undetermined dharmas other than those from maturation, as well as virtuous dharmas other than the first moment of uncontaminated ones. These four types of dharmas are: defiled and born from maturation, remainder and first, successively noble. Maturation and pervasive, those two, except for equal flow, are born from the remainder. Defiled dharmas, except for the cause of maturation, are born from the remaining five. Dharmas born from maturation, except for the cause of pervasiveness, are only born from the remaining five. Remaining dharmas, except for the causes of maturation and pervasiveness, are born from the remaining four. The first of the uncontaminated, except for the causes of maturation and pervasiveness, as well as the cause of equal flow, are born from the remaining three. Mind and mental factors, thus, these four types of dharmas are explained. Then, what are those that are not associated with mind, and what are the forms of matter like? Except for association, the others are like that. Except for the single cause of association, others such as defiled dharmas also arise like mind and mental factors. For this, the defiled and those born from maturation arise from four. The remaining arise from three. The first of the uncontaminated arises from two, there is no dharma that arises from one cause. The extensive explanation of causes is complete. What are the conditions? Conditions are said to be four. From where are they said? In the sutra, it is said that conditions are four, namely, the condition of cause, the condition of immediate contiguity, the condition of object, and the condition of dominance. That which is similar to a condition is a condition. In this regard, cause is called the five causes. Except for the agent cause, the five causes are the causal condition. Mind and mental factors that arise, except for the last, are immediately contiguous.
