These are statements about "the future being the cause of shared consequences." It is said in the treatises: What is the cause of shared consequences? The previously arisen roots of virtue, in one's own continuum, for the later arising roots of virtue, and for the dharmas that are in accordance with them, are the cause of shared consequences. Thus, those that have arisen in the past and present are also. Those that have arisen in the past and present are for those of the future. It should be said in this way. Is it that any dharma that is the cause of any dharma, that dharma is sometimes not the cause of that dharma? It is said in response: Never. This is also a treatise. Because it is explained from the perspective of co-emergent, concordant, and ripening causes, there is no fault. Whatever future dharma there is, it will certainly become the cause of shared consequences at the time of its arising. Therefore, thinking that it is said that it is never a cause, considering it from that final stage, is not a proper response. This is because that dharma is not the cause of shared consequences before the time of its arising, but is later. Is it that any dharma that is the immediately preceding concordant cause of any dharma, that dharma is sometimes not the immediately preceding concordant cause of that dharma? If one can answer with complete understanding that it is never, why is it said, "If that dharma had not arisen"? Just as it is said there, so it should be said here; just as it is said here, so it should be said there, until the two ways are shown. If that is so, what merit will be obtained? If that is so, it will only lead to the belief that the treatise writers here are not skilled. Therefore, the previous answer here is the better one. Well then, what about what is said like this: Other than the future view of the aggregates and the truth of suffering that is in accordance with it, whatever other truth of suffering there is, it arises from the cause of the view of the aggregates, but is not the cause of the view of the aggregates. Whatever is other than that arises from the cause of the view of the aggregates.

If someone says that it is both small and the cause of the view of bad aggregates, then it should be said that the view of bad aggregates is the same as the future, and can only be said to correspond to the truth of suffering. Or, in fact, it should be understood in this way. Then, what about the explanation of nominal terms, that all dharmas are necessarily the four great elements, namely cause and effect, support and object? Here, the cause is the corresponding cause and the co-emergent cause. The effect is the purusha effect and the independent effect. The support is the eye, etc. The object is form, etc., and should be viewed in this way. If so, then isn't it becoming a cause from a co-arising cause? The state is only intention, not substance. The collection is the fruit of the state, not the fruit of the substance. If, like the ripening cause, the co-arising cause is also the future, what will happen? This will be mentioned in the scriptures. If someone says that only that which can produce and hold the fruit is mentioned, so there is no fault. That is not the case. If the co-arising cause is a fruit with a similar cause, then it should not be the future, because there is no before and after. What has already happened should not be a similar cause of the future, like the past of the present. Because the fruit cannot precede the cause, there is no future co-arising cause. If so, then the ripening cause will not be the future either, because the ripening fruit cannot precede the cause, and there is no before and after in the future time. That is not the case. The co-arising cause is a similar co-arising cause without before and after, because they become causes to each other, so they will become mutually similar causes, and it is unreasonable for them to be mutually similar causes. Although the ripening cause has no before and after, it will not become fruits to each other, because the nature of cause and effect are different.
