as well as food for the body, and things like sprouts have seeds and so on. If someone says this: if by the nature of non-obscuration, all dharmas are causes, why do all dharmas not arise simultaneously? For things like killing, why not rely on all of them like a butcher? For those who argue like this, that should not be blamed, because in this way, by the nature of non-obscuration, it is promised that all dharmas are causes, but it is not the nature of the maker. Others say that all things that arise have the energy of all the causes of the maker, just as Nirvana also has the energy of eye consciousness. How is it? Because the object produces good and bad consciousness, therefore gradually produces eye consciousness, from the continuity of cause, that also becomes a condition, so there is energy. Similarly, it should be understood for others, this is just one aspect. The cause of the maker has been said. Arising together, whatever is mutual fruit. Mutual means one to one, whatever dharmas are mutual fruits, those are the causes that arise together mutually. What are some examples? Like the arising of the mind's attendants, and like the mind and characteristics and entities. The four great elements are the causes that arise together mutually. The mind is the cause of the dharmas that follow the mind, and those are also the causes of the mind. The characteristics of conditioned phenomena are the causes of the entities, and those are also the causes of those, so all conditioned phenomena are the causes that arise together as appropriate. Even if there is no mutual fruit, dharma is also the cause of those similar characteristics that arise together, and those are not its, so it must be supplemented. What are the dharmas that follow the mind? Mental factors and the two vows, as well as the mind and their characteristics, the attendants of the mind, and all things that are in accordance with the mind, as well as the vows of meditation, and the vows of non-leakage, and those and the arising of the mind, etc., whatever dharmas are, those are the attendants of the mind.

It is called following. How do these follow the mind? In short, by time and fruits, etc., and virtues, etc. Briefly, from the perspective of time, it is the same as the mind in terms of arising, abiding, and ceasing together, and it belongs to the same time. From the perspective of fruits, etc., it is the same as the fruit and maturation, and the similar cause. The word "one" here should be understood as the meaning of together. From the perspective of virtues, etc., for the mind of virtue, non-virtue, and neutral, it is by virtue, non-virtue, and neutral itself. Thus, the mind is followed by ten causes. Among them, the least in the mind is the co-emergent cause of fifty-eight dharmas, namely, the ten omnipresent ground dharmas, forty of their characteristics, and eight characteristics that are in accordance with their own nature. Its co-emergent cause is fifty-four dharmas, except for those characteristics that are in accordance with its own nature. Others say there are fourteen, namely, the ten omnipresent ground dharmas, and only the own nature. They say so. It should not be said that way. If that is the case, then the Vibhajyavāda says that the truth of suffering has the cause of the view of the aggregation of destruction, and also has the cause of non-view of the aggregation of destruction, that is, except for the view of the aggregation of destruction, and the arising, aging, abiding, and impermanence of the dharmas that are in accordance with it, all other afflictive truths of suffering. What is both the cause of the view of the aggregation of destruction and the cause of the view of the aggregation of destruction is what is apart from what. In this way, it will contradict the scriptures. The Kashmiris say that those who do not recite "the dharmas that are in accordance with it" should also recite it that way, or should understand it that way in meaning. For the time being, whatever is the cause by the co-emergent cause is also co-emergent. Some are co-emergent, but not the cause by the co-emergent cause, namely, the homogeneous characteristics of the dharmas, and between them, and the homogeneous characteristics of following the mind itself, and between them.
