So, the power of the constant is birth. The opposite is cessation. The continuation of that constant is abiding. The difference between its before and after is change of abiding. Since it is so, son of good family, the feeling of Delight arises as it is. It abides as it is. It ceases as it is, is completely exhausted, is completely consumed, so it is said. Here it is said, the first of the constant is birth. Cessation is cessation, abiding is. That difference between before and after is, change of abiding. Again, here it is said, arising from what was not before is birth. The cessation of that constant abiding is cessation. The difference between before and after of the constant is, it is considered change of abiding. For the phenomena of the moment, if there is no abiding, there will be cessation. That is also because of the change of cessation. Recognizing it there is meaningless. Therefore, abiding is only constant. If it is said like that, what is abiding in the Abhidharma? The arising of what is made is not ceasing, showing like this is also reasonable, because there is no cessation in the moment of what is born. Also, in entering into wisdom it says, what arises in one mind? It is said, it is birth. What is cessation? It is death. What is change of abiding? It is aging, saying like that is also suitable for the mind of the same kind there. Just as there is no recognition of other things in each moment, those that are made are also suitable, how is it? In each moment, what arises from what was not is birth. What is gone after arising is cessation. The connection of the previous previous and the later later moments is abiding. Its difference is change of abiding. Then when does it also arise the same? Those are not without difference. How is this known? Vajra etc. thrown and not thrown, thrown with great strength and small strength, slow and fast, the difference in the time of falling most slowly and most quickly, because of the accomplishment of the difference of those arising completely transformed. Those that are made are without great and peculiar differences, even if there is change

also still appear. Then, the last moment of sound and flame, and the six sense fields of life that are completely liberated from suffering, since there is no later moment, existence does not transform into other, so the distinction of characteristics will become non-universal. The characteristic of conditioned phenomena is not only existence, but also existence transforming into other. Therefore, wherever there is existence, there is necessarily also transformation into other, so the distinction is not lost. In short, the Blessed One said in this sutra that conditioned phenomena refer to arising from non-existence, and also ceasing to exist after arising, this is the characteristic of conditioned phenomena. The existence here, which is the continuity, will also transform into other, so what is the use of other things like birth here? How can that become the characteristic of the basis of characteristics? For the time being, how can the characteristics of a great person be different from a great person? The characteristics of a cow, such as dewlap, tail, hump, hooves, and horns, are also not different from a cow. The characteristics of earth element etc., such as hardness etc., are also not different from them. Furthermore, just as seeing smoke rising upwards from a distance is known as smoke, it is also not different from smoke, here too the same principle applies. Conditioned form etc., even if they retain their own essence, as long as one does not understand the difference between previously non-existent, later non-existent, and continuity, one will not understand it as conditioned phenomena. Therefore, it itself cannot represent it, and arising etc. from them are also not other things. However, if arising etc. become other things, then what will happen? They will arise simultaneously, so one thing will be born, abide, age, and decay at the same time. No, because the time of action is different. Birth is a future action, like giving rise to what has not yet arisen. For the dharma that has already arisen, existence etc. now take effect, so when it is born, it will not exist, nor will it age, nor will it decay. For the time being, what is here
