If it is said that it is the nature of preventing arising from the earth, then what is the samadhi without perception and the samadhi of cessation of consciousness and feeling? Because they are inconsistent with them, it is to apply samadhi to them. Although feelings and so on are also known, just like knowing the minds of others. Now, how can mind arise again from a mind that has ceased for a long time? The Vaibhashikas think that since the past also exists, they consider the similar one to be the immediate cause. Other former teachers said, if those who are born in the formless realm for a while, how can form arise even after their form aggregate has ceased for a long time? That is born from mind alone, not from form. Similarly, mind is also born only from this body with sense organs, not from mind. For example, mind and the body with sense organs are mutually seed-like. The venerable Dhyig Bhes asked: According to whose view is the cessation samadhi a mindless one, which would be a fault? I am the cessation samadhi with mind. The venerable Dbyangs sGrog said, that is unreasonable. The Blessed One said that if consciousness exists, then the three aggregates give rise to contact, and because of contact, feeling, perception, and volition arise. Therefore, for this, consciousness and feeling etc. will also not cease. Although it is said that craving arises from feeling, just as an Arhat has feeling but does not generate craving, similarly, is it that feeling etc. do not arise even with contact? Because of the distinction, it is not so. It is said that craving arises based on the feeling that arises from the aggregation of ignorance and contact. For the arising of feeling, contact is not specifically stated, so this is not the same. Therefore, the Vaibhashikas say that the cessation samadhi is mindless. How is it that it is a mindless samadhi? Is it in order to accomplish the equality of the great elements? Or because the mind of samadhi enters into it and attains it?

It is absorption. Furthermore, are these absorptions substantially existent or merely imputed? It is said that they are substantially existent because they obstruct the arising of mind. That is not the case, because only the mind of absorption obstructs it. Because it generates a basis that is contrary to the mind of absorption, by what means does it become merely not entering the mind until another time, arising contrary to a mind other than that, and it is designated as absorption. Merely not entering, that is, since it does not exist in what has not arisen before and what arises later, this absorption is designated as a conditioned phenomenon. Alternatively, the basis itself is accomplished in such an equal manner, so it is absorption. The unconscious one should also be viewed in the same way, that is, by this, one obtains the contradiction of the mind itself with the entry of mind, and merely not entering is also designated as the unconscious one. It is not said that way. Absorptions have all been explained. What is life force? Life force is life. In the Dharma Abhidhamma it says: What is the life force? It is the life of the three realms. Since one does not even know what the Dharma called life is, it is warmth and what is the basis of consciousness. The Blessed One said this: Life and warmth and consciousness, when the body is abandoned, after abandoning, at that time it dwells, like a tree without mind. Having said this, therefore, the cause of the existence of the Dharma that has become the basis of warmth and consciousness is life. Now, what is the basis of that life? It is warmth and consciousness themselves. Then, since they enter in mutual dependence, from among those, by the power of what will the others regress, and what will regress first? It will become a fault of constant non-regression. Then, is it from the karma that has become the basis of life, because as long as the karma has thrown it, it follows accordingly? Why not accept that what has become the basis of warmth and consciousness is also karma alone? Until death, all consciousnesses will ripen. Then, it will become that what has become the basis of warmth is karma, and warmth also
