In the absence of virtue, possessing few, endowed with body, feeling, life, mind, and eight. Absence of virtue means the complete severance of the root of virtue. If one possesses few within that, then one possesses the five senses, as well as body, mind, and life, and is endowed with eight faculties. That which experiences is feeling, because it experiences. Or feeling is feeling, just as fullness is called fullness. Just as in the absence of virtue, possessing few, one is endowed with eight faculties, so too is a formless child; the name 'child' is the name of an ordinary being. What are the eight that one possesses? Equanimity, life, mind, virtues, etc., equanimity and life, mind and faith, and so forth. Mentioning virtue is to include faith and so on, because it is uniquely virtuous. If it is argued that the faculty of knowing all, etc., is also included, that is not the case, because it is in the context of the eight, and also in the context of a child. Furthermore, what possesses many faculties within it, how many does it possess? If possessing many, then nineteen, except for the stainless ones. Except for the three uncontaminated ones. That also has two characteristics. The one with two characteristics, that is, the one with complete faculties, possesses nineteen. Furthermore, what is it? A noble one with attachment, that is, a learner who has not separated from desire, if possessing many within, then possessing nineteen, except for one characteristic and two stainless ones. One characteristic and two uncontaminated ones, that is, the faculty of possessing all knowledge, and either one of the two is excluded. Having come along with the detailed explanation of the division of realms, the detailed explanation of the faculties has been extensively explained. Now, this should be examined: How do these conditioned dharmas, as their characteristics are distinct, arise distinctly in the same way? Or are there some that necessarily arise together? It is said: There are. All these dharmas are form and mind, and those born from mind, and those not associated with mind, and the unconditioned, becoming five types. Among them, the unconditioned has no arising. The determination of form dharmas is this: If desired, then without faculties, without sound, extremely subtle dust particles, eight substances.
