And in order to obtain the wisdom of non-arising, I think that I have fully understood suffering, and there is no need to fully understand it again. Such a faculty is the faculty of having all knowledge. After revealing one's own essence, one should distinguish and explain what is with outflows, what is without outflows, and so on. Therefore, first of all, what is to be explained immediately is the faculty of all-knowing, and so on. The three are immaculate, which is synonymous with without outflows, because impurities are a synonym for outflows. Form, life, and suffering, etc., are with outflows. The seven form faculties, as well as the life faculty, suffering, and the faculty of displeasure, are all with outflows. The seven form faculties are the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and the male and female faculties, because they are included in the aggregate of form. Nine are both. Mind and pleasure, joy and equanimity, as well as the five, such as faith, these nine faculties are both with outflows and without outflows. Some say that faith, etc., are only without outflows, because the Blessed One said that if someone completely lacks these five faculties, I say that he dwells on the side of external ordinary beings. This is not credible, because it is said in terms of those without outflows. Just like this, after determining the noble person, it is said who has these faculties. Or, ordinary beings are of two types, internal and external. The internal is one who has not completely severed the roots of virtue. The external is one who has completely severed the roots of virtue, and therefore it is said that he dwells on the side of external ordinary beings. The sutra also says that sentient beings are born in the world and age in the world, and there are also sharp faculties, there are also medium faculties, and there are also dull faculties, which is said only at the time when the wheel of Dharma has not been turned, therefore faith, etc., also have outflows. Also, how I...

If one does not know the arising, non-appearance, enjoyment, faults, and definite liberation of these five faculties as they truly are, then I will be liberated from this world including the gods, as it is extensively said. For those without outflows, this kind of thorough examination does not exist. Which faculties are the result of maturation? Which are not the result of maturation? For the time being, the life force alone is the result of maturation. Then, monks, what is the result of maturation of the life force that an Arhat establishes to sustain life? The scriptures say: How does one establish the activities of life? A monk who is an Arhat, endowed with miraculous powers and having mastery over his mind, offers a bowl or robe, or any of the necessities of a renunciate's life, to the Sangha or an individual. Then, contemplating this, he enters the fourth dhyana, the highest of all, and rising from it, he generates the thought: 'May whatever is the result of maturation of my enjoyment become the result of maturation of my life.' And he also speaks these words. Whatever is the result of maturation of his enjoyment will become the result of maturation of his life. Those who think that the remaining part of maturation will produce the result of maturation say: 'Certainly, the result of maturation of the karma done in a previous life is drawn by the power of meditation, and thus each is experienced separately.' How does one relinquish the activities of life? Similarly, after giving alms, contemplating this, he enters the fourth dhyana, the highest of all, and rising from it, he generates the thought: 'May whatever is the result of maturation of my life become the result of maturation of happiness and enjoyment.' And he also speaks these words, and it will become so. Venerable Yangdrong said: 'By the power of meditation, he manifests the great elements that are in harmony or in conflict with life in that very body.' Thus, one establishes the activities of life, and thus one relinquishes them, they say. It is like this: their state is solely the power of samadhi, by which what was previously born from karma

Extending the duration of the dwelling of the great elements of the senses can be reversed, while the extension that arises from samadhi, which was not present before, can be extended. Therefore, the root of life is not a result of maturation, while others are results of maturation. From one question, another question arises: Why are the formations of life blessed? Is it for the benefit of others, or for the sake of the Dharma's endurance? Because they see that their own life is coming to an end and they do not see any other abilities. Then why do they give it up? Because living is of little benefit to others, and they see physical illnesses and so on. As it is said: "The pure conduct is well practiced in this, and the path is also deeply meditated upon, when life is exhausted, joy arises, like being free from diseases." Like that is said. Then where, and whose life formations should be recognized as stopping or giving up? It is only among humans, that is, in the three continents. Whose? It is the Arhat, whether male or female, who has attained the highest meditation, liberated without being connected to time. They are also free with samadhi, and the afflictions have not shown the near cause. In the sutra, the Blessed One said, after blessing the formations of life, giving up the formations of life, what is the difference between these? Some say there is none at all. Like this, what is the root of life? It is the life of the three realms. Some say that the fruit of previous actions is the formations of life, and the fruit of actions that arise now is the formations of life. Those that can abide in harmony with their kind are the formations of life, and those that can live until other times are the formations of life. The majority of sayings are for the sake of abandoning and blessing the many moments of life and the formations of life, because there is no abandoning or blessing in a single moment. Some say that it is to show that there is no single thing of life that can last until other times. Some say that the many formations
