As it is said, if I fill the inside, the outside will become special. If the outside is filled, the inside will become special. One should know that what exists is what exists, and what does not exist is what does not exist. One should know that what is superior is superior, and what is not superior is not superior, as it is said. Therefore, the statement that consciousness is based on existence is also not a valid reason. Furthermore, those who say it is for the sake of the result, the Sutra masters do not say that the result arises from actions and the past. So how is it? It arises from the distinction of the preceding continuum, and it will be explained from the refutation of the assertion of self. If the past and the future exist as substances, then their result can only be eternally existent, so what is the function of karma? Is it able to produce? Then it is established that birth and action arise from what has not arisen. Furthermore, if everything exists, then what combines with what now? In that case, the arguments of the astrologers are like saying that whatever exists is only what exists. Whatever does not exist is only what does not exist. For what does not exist, there is no birth. For what exists, there is no destruction. So now, doing is capable. What does it mean to do now? If it means leading to another place, then it would become permanent. For non-form phenomena, how is that? That which leads it also arises from what has not arisen. If it is a distinction of its own nature, then it is established that it arises from what has not arisen. Therefore, it is said that those who say that the past and the future exist as substances, the Sarvastivadins, are not beneficial to the teachings, but it is good to say as it is said in the sutras that everything exists. How does the sutra say that everything exists? It is said that saying everything exists is a synonym for the twelve sources of Brahman. Or it refers to the three times, and how they exist has already been explained. Furthermore, if the past and the future do not exist, then how can one be associated with them? If one says that one is associated with them, it is because it arises from them, because there is a subtle increase of its cause, so one is associated with afflictions and focuses on it.

Because the subtle increase of afflictions exists, it is related to things. The Vaibhashikas believe that the past and the future are truly existent. For those that cannot be corrected, it is like this: the nature of Dharma is profound. It should be understood that it is realized without doubt, not proven by argument. Whatever arises also has its way of ceasing, for example, when form arises, form ceases. Other things that arise also have other ways of ceasing, for example, when the future arises, the present ceases. Time also arises, because arising is contained by time. Time also arises from time, because the future time is countless moments. By the way, the discussion about the future ends here. Now, it needs to be examined whether abandoning something means being separated from that thing? Does being separated from something mean abandoning that thing? For the time being, being separated from something means abandoning that thing. But there are also cases where something is abandoned but not separated, for example: although the suffering to be abandoned by the path of seeing is abandoned, it still possesses the remaining pervasive afflictions. Although the initial form is abandoned, it still possesses the remaining defilements of its object. When the knowledge of suffering arises, but the knowledge of origination does not arise, then the category of suffering to be abandoned by the path of seeing is abandoned. Although it is abandoned, it still possesses the things that take it as their object, pervade the origination, and are to be abandoned by the path of seeing. For the things to be abandoned by the path of meditation, there are also nine forms. If the initial form is abandoned, although it is abandoned, it should still be clearly recognized that there are remaining afflictions that take it as their object. If we explain one by one the sentence "On which thing, how many subtle increases will increase", then there will be too many things to say. Therefore, we must try to reduce the amount of effort, reduce the number of questions, so that we can understand more content, so we will summarize and explain in detail. In short, there are sixteen Dharmas, namely the five aspects of behavior in the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, and the unpolluted Dharma. There are also sixteen minds, namely those mentioned above. Therefore, after understanding which Dharma is the object of which mind, one should always determine "On this thing, this many subtle increases will increase." First, it is about suffering, origin (cause), seeing, and habit.
