Therefore, all actions are inexpressible. The maturation of dharmas with afflictions is suffering, but there is no suffering in those two, because there is no cause to harm others. If desired, the view of the perishable collection and the co-emergent ignorance. In the desire realm, the view of the perishable collection and the view of clinging to extremes, and the ignorance that corresponds to them are inexpressible. Why? Because they do not contradict generosity and so on, and one gives in order to be happy in the next world, and keeps the precepts. The view of annihilation is also in accordance with liberation, therefore, the Blessed One said: Among the views of the outsiders, like this, may I not be, may mine not be, may I not arise, may mine not arise, this view is the best. Furthermore, these two views are completely ignorant of their own nature, and are not in a state of harming others. Craving for high status and the pride of thinking "I" will also be the same. Former teachers said: The co-emergent view of the perishable collection, which deer and birds also have, is inexpressible. Discrimination is evil. The rest here are evil. The remaining subtle parts are evil in the desire realm. Which are the roots of unwholesomeness? If it is said that they are not, then the desire realm's desire, anger, and delusion are the roots of unwholesomeness. All desire in the desire realm, all anger, and all delusion except for the view of the perishable collection and the view of clinging to extremes and the delusion corresponding to them, are in order the three roots of unwholesomeness, namely, desire is the root of unwholesomeness, anger is the root of unwholesomeness, and delusion is the root of unwholesomeness, whatever is both unwholesome and the root of unwholesomeness, that is what is considered to be the root of unwholesomeness. The remaining subtle parts are not the roots of unwholesomeness, thus it is established. Which are inexpressible

are the roots of the unstated. If asked, what is not (a root)? There are three unstated roots. If asked, what are the three? They are desire, ignorance, and delusion. The word "that" indicates that it is unstated. The Kashmiris say that desire, ignorance, and wisdom, even those born from vipāka, are all unstated, and all those unstated are also roots. Doubt is not a root because it enters into both, because it is wavering. Pride is not because it is elevated by the characteristic of arrogance, because it is inconsistent with the dharma of the root. In the world, people think that roots are stable and located below. It is said that "four" are those under the sun (referring to certain schools). Those under the sun consider the four unstated roots to be desire, view, pride, and ignorance. The word "those" indicates that they are unstated, namely unstated desire, view, pride, and ignorance. Why are only these considered to be unstated roots? Because there are three meditators who originate from ignorance. Thus, there are three types of meditators: those in whom desire, view, and pride are dominant, and these are also influenced by ignorance. The sutra speaks of fourteen unstated things, are they unstated because of that? The answer is no. So, what is it like? It is said that the questions that should be set aside are unstated. There are four types of questions: those that should be answered in general, those that should be answered separately, those that should be answered after questioning, and those that should be set aside. For these, in order: answering in general and separately, questioning and setting aside. Death and birth, as well as special excellence, I and others, etc., are examples. It is necessary to understand in between, if asked: will all sentient beings die? One should answer in general: they will die. If asked: will all sentient beings be born? One should answer separately: those with afflictions will be born, those without afflictions will not.

Ya! If someone asks, "Is this person superior or inferior?" one should ask back, "Compared to what are you asking?" and then make a prediction. If they say, "Compared to the gods," then one should predict, "Inferior." However, if they say, "Compared to the evil destinies," then one should predict, "Superior." If someone asks, "Is a sentient being different from the aggregates, or not different?" Because a sentient being has no substance, it should be set aside, like asking, "Is the son of a barren woman blue or white?" If asked, "How is this unpredicable?" Because it is unpredicable, it is predicted as such. Some say that "everything will not be born" should also be predicted in one way. If someone asks, "Will those who die be born?" this should be predicted separately. A person has both inferior and superior aspects, and because it is relative, both should be predicted in one way. For example, consciousness is both a cause and an effect. It is not possible to predict a single question in a single way, so it is appropriate to predict it separately. If someone asks, "Is a sentient being different from the aggregates?" this is completely unpredicable, and what is completely unpredicable cannot be predicted. How is it unpredicable to predict that a question that should be set aside is set aside? The Sutra masters say that the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, and his well-spoken Dharma, and the Sangha of Hearers who have entered well, and that form is impermanent up to consciousness is impermanent, and that the establishment of suffering truth up to the establishment of the path truth, because it is meaningful, should be predicted in one way. To predict separately means that if someone says, "Speak of some dharmas," then if there are many dharmas, such as past, future, and present, one should say, "What should I speak of?" If he says, "Speak of some past dharmas," then in the past dharmas, there are many from form to consciousness.
