Napa. What is meant by "similar to that"? Whatever does not do its own work, whatever does its own work, is said to be "having a support." For example, the eye that sees all forms, the eye that sees or will see, is called "having a support." Similarly, for the mind, it should be said that each acts on its own object. According to the Kashmiris, there are four kinds of eyes that are similar to that: whatever has ceased without seeing forms, has ceased, will cease, and whatever is the dharma of non-arising. According to the Westerners, there are five kinds: the dharma of non-arising itself has, does not have, and is divided into two kinds, and it should be understood in the same way for the body. The mind is just the dharma of non-arising, that's how it is. Whatever forms are seen by the eye, are seen, or will be seen, those are all having a support. There are four kinds similar to that: whatever has ceased without seeing, has ceased, will cease, and whatever is the dharma of non-arising. Similarly, for the various aspects of touch, it should be understood as similar to that by the action of one's own sense faculty. Whatever is the support that one person's eye has, is for everyone. Those who are similar to that are also like that, and it is the same for the mind. Form, whatever form is seen, has a support, and whatever form is not seen, is similar to that. Why? Because, whatever form one person sees, many people may also see, such as seeing the moon, dance, and giants. It is not possible for two people to see with the same eye, therefore, this is non-common, so it is established according to one continuum. Form is common, so it is established according to multiple continua. Just as form is, so should the realms of sound, smell, taste, and touch be understood. If sound is like that, then for smell and so on, whatever one person takes, others do not take, because it is taken after contact. Therefore, those are also non-common, so for the eyes and so on

If someone asks: Can it be compared like shapes? Although there is such a case, they are common because they may also exist in other things. For example, the smell, etc., corresponding to the consciousness produced by a person's nose, etc., may also exist in other people, which is the case, but the eyes, etc., are not like that. Therefore, they can be compared like shapes. What the consciousness of the eyes, etc., relies on and is similar to, because it is the Dharma of arising and non-arising, is like the realm of mind. What does it mean to be dependent? The root, object, and consciousness depend on each other, or depend on the action, which is dependence. Because these exist in these things, they are dependent. Or, because the fruit touches similarly, the dependence is the same. Those things that are not dependent are the same as those that are dependent because they are similar in kind. Which realms are to be abandoned through the path of seeing? Which are to be abandoned through the path of meditation? Which are not to be abandoned? First, the ten forms are to be abandoned through the path of meditation. Five are also, namely the five realms of consciousness. The last three are three kinds. The realm of mind, the realm of Dharma, and the realm of consciousness of mind, these three realms are three kinds, namely the eighty-eight latent tendencies, as well as those that arise together with them, and the attainment that follows, these are all to be abandoned through the path of seeing. The remaining contaminated dharmas are to be abandoned through the path of meditation. The uncontaminated dharmas are not to be abandoned. The nature of ordinary beings, as well as the physical and verbal actions of the lower realms, because they are contrary to the noble path, are there no other things to be abandoned through the path of seeing? These are not to be abandoned through the path of seeing, in short, this is it. Non-affliction, non-seeing abandonment, non-form, non-six, non-birth. What is not an affliction is not to be abandoned through the path of seeing, nor is it form. The nature of ordinary beings is not non-afflictive, because it is not considered a virtuous root.
