Anger, pride, ignorance and views, and doubt. Saying 'thus' is to know that it is because of the power of desire that it grows from other objects. That will be explained below. Those six are also explained as seven by the distinction of desire. Those six predispositions are also explained in the sutras as dividing desire into seven: the predisposition of desire for desire, the predisposition of anger, the predisposition of desire for existence, the predisposition of pride, the predisposition of ignorance, the predisposition of views, and the predisposition of doubt. How is it to be known? Is desire itself a predisposition, so is it a predisposition of desire for desire? Or is it a predisposition of desire for desire? What difference does it make? If desire itself is a predisposition, then here some people whose minds are entangled by desire do not abide in many actions, and even if they arise entangled by desire, they will surely know the true nature of their arising later, and by the power of that entanglement of desire, they will truly and completely destroy it, and abandon it together with the predisposition, which contradicts the sutra. If it is the predisposition of desire for desire, then it would be a fault of not having a predisposition, so the predisposition of desire for desire is said to be in accordance with the three roots, which contradicts the Dharma that arises. The Vaibhashikas say that desire itself is a predisposition, and it is the same up to doubt itself being a predisposition. If so, hasn't it been said that it contradicts the sutra? There is no contradiction, because having a predisposition means having the meaning of having an attachment. Or the sound of predisposition in the sutras is a designation close to attainment, just like saying fire is suffering. The sound of predisposition in the Dharma Abhidhamma is characterized only by afflictions, so predispositions are only those that are correspondingly possessed. How is this known? Predispositions are, the mind is the cause of affliction, and the cause of obscuration.
