For other doubts, it is giving alms, for example, taking the life stories of bears and wild animals as examples. In terms of the difference in merit, it is like this: if you give to someone who has discipline, the result will increase a hundred thousand times, and so on. Among all the almsgiving, the best is from the liberated to the liberated. The Blessed One said that whichever almsgiving is from those who are free from attachment to those who are free from attachment, that is the best among all material almsgiving. A Bodhisattva, or the almsgiving that a Bodhisattva gives in order to benefit all sentient beings, even if given to those who are not liberated, is the best. Apart from that, among the eight almsgiving that the Blessed One spoke of, the eighth is the best. What are the eight? Giving to relatives, giving out of fear, giving for oneself, giving because one will give to oneself, giving because one's parents and ancestors gave alms in the past, giving for the sake of heaven, giving for fame, for the sake of mental ornaments, for the sake of mental equipment, for the sake of the assembly of yoga, and giving alms in order to obtain the highest meaning. Among them, giving to relatives, the former people said, is giving to those who have become close and have arrived. Giving out of fear is seeing destruction manifest, and then saying that one gives sacred objects and gives alms. The rest are not explained in detail because they are easy to understand. The sutra says that if you give alms to someone who has entered the stream-entry fruit, the result is immeasurable. If you give to a stream-enterer, then it is even more immeasurable, although it is widely said, but there are also: even if they are not noble, parents, the sick, and preachers, and the last-born Bodhisattva, the merit is immeasurable. For these five people, even if they are ordinary people, from the perspective of results, the merit is immeasurable. Among them, the last-born Bodhisattva is the last existence. The preacher, the field.

To which side do these four kinds of differences belong? They belong to the side of benefiting. Because it gives the eye of wisdom to those beings who are blinded by ignorance; it clearly shows what is favorable and unfavorable; it manifests the attainment of the undefiled Dharmakaya; in short, because it does all the deeds of the Buddha, it is a great spiritual friend. If you want to know the weight of actions, in short, you must know six factors. Namely: result, field, basis, combination, mind, and thought. From small to large, actions are also from small to large. The so-called "result" refers to what is done after it is done. The so-called "field" refers to where benefit and harm are done. The basis is the path of action. Combination refers to doing action with body and speech for that purpose. Mind refers to what is used to bring the path of action to an end. Thought refers to thinking about those things, that this or that should be done, and that this or that should be done later. Some people's actions become heavy just because they fully accept the result, because it will definitely ripen. Some are only due to the power of the field. The field itself becomes heavy due to the power of the basis, otherwise it is not so. For example, killing parents becomes heavy, but taking what is not given, etc., is not like that. Similarly, it should also be applied to other aspects. Know that if everything is great, then the action is also extremely heavy. Know that if everything is small, then the action is also extremely small. Having done action and accumulated action, how is action accumulated? Deliberation and completion, no regret, no antidote, and retinue and maturation, like these four are accumulated actions. How is it deliberate? It means doing it after deliberate consideration, not without prior consideration, nor doing it casually. How is it complete? Some people fall into evil destinies because of one misdeed, some fall into evil destinies because of three, some fall into evil destinies because of one path of action, and some fall into evil destinies because of ten, which one is it?
