Then, harming the sick, and death, would also apply to doctors. Or merely giving examples would not be sufficient. Killing has been explained. Not giving, taking others' property, appropriating it by force or stealth. The condition of "not mistaken" should be added. If something already possessed by another is appropriated by force or stealth, and in the place where one intends to appropriate by force or stealth, the perception is also not confused, then that alone is not giving. Stealing from a stupa is taking without giving from the Buddha, because all the merits of the Bhagavan's complete passing into nirvana are completely taken. Others say it is stealing from the guardian deities. Digging up ownerless treasure is from the local lord. Stealing the property of the dead, if it is someone who has completed their work, it is stealing from those within the boundary. If it is someone who has not completed their work, it is from all the Buddha's disciples. Going where one should not go, desiring what one should not desire, there are four types of sexual misconduct. Wanting to go where one should not go, there are four types of sexual misconduct, namely, places where one should not go: someone completely possessed by another, or a mother, or a daughter, or a relative related to one's parents, or even one's own wife, but engaging in non-genital acts, i.e., entering the mouth or anus. Going to an inappropriate place, such as a wilderness or a stupa, or a temple. Going at an inappropriate time, what is an inappropriate time? When pregnant, or breastfeeding, or when there is an agreement. Some say that if the other person allows it, then it is an agreement. The condition of "not mistaken" should be added. If one goes to another's wife with the perception that she is one's own, it will not become a path of action. If one goes to someone else with the perception that she is not another's wife, some say that because it is directed towards another's wife, and the object is fully enjoyed, it will become a path of action. Others say that because the act is different, it will not become a path of action, just like killing. Going to a nun, from whom does one crave and commit sexual misconduct? From the local lord.

From there, therefore it should not be tolerated. Therefore, one should also not act as if with one's own wife. Going to the abode of a young woman is because it has been given. If it has not been given, then who is the protector? Even the king. False speech is the transformation of perception, the meaning of the words becomes manifest. For one who speaks the truth, if his perception is transformed, and he also understands the meaning of the word spoken by what power, then that word is a false statement. If it cannot be manifestly understood, what will it become? It will become a joke. The term 'word' means that sometimes many letters become a word, then what is the path of action for it? Ultimately, it is combined with non-representation. Or, from what does the meaning become understandable? The previous letters are combinations. What is meant by 'meaning manifestly understood'? Does it mean that the listener manifestly understands the meaning? Or does it mean that it is capable of being manifestly understood? What will become of that? If the meaning is manifestly understood, then the meaning of the word is the object of the mind's consciousness, and because the expression of speech ceases together with the ear's consciousness, only non-representation becomes the path of action. However, if it is not capable of being manifestly understood, then that will not become a fault. How is it capable of being manifestly understood? The sound is clear and the ear's consciousness arises. It is just like there is no fault. In the sutra, sixteen terms are spoken of: saying 'I have seen' to what has not been seen, and saying 'I know' to what has not been heard, understood, or cognized, and saying 'I have not seen' to what has been seen, and saying 'I do not know' up to cognition. These eight terms are the terms of non-Aryas. From saying 'I have seen' to what has been seen, up to saying 'I know' to what has been cognized, and from saying 'I have not seen' to what has not been seen, up to saying 'I do not know' to what has not been cognized, these eight terms are the terms of the Aryas. What are the characteristics of seeing, hearing, understanding, and cognizing? The consciousness of the eye, ear, and mind, and whatever is experienced by the three, is seeing.

Hearing, distinguishing, and perceiving are the order. That which is experienced by eye consciousness is said to be seeing. That which is experienced by ear consciousness is said to be hearing. That which is experienced by mind consciousness is said to be distinguishing. That which is experienced by nose, tongue, and body consciousness is said to be perceiving. Why? The Vaibhashikas say: Because smells, tastes, and tactile objects are not indicated in the scriptures, they are like dead things. Therefore, they are called perceiving. Therefore, they are called perceiving. What is the basis for this? There are sutras and reasoning. Briefly, the sutra says: Offering mother, what do you think? If there are forms that your eyes have not seen, that you have not seen before, and that you do not look at, and that you do not think to look at, then do you arise desire, attachment, love, joy, lust, clinging, or excessive lust from that basis? Bhikshu, no. If there are sounds that your ears have not heard, that you have not heard before. In detail, the mind has not distinguished the dharmas, and in detail, bhikshu, no. Offering mother, if you see this, it is only seeing, and hearing, perceiving, and distinguishing are only distinguishing. Therefore, in the three realms, the names of seeing, hearing, and distinguishing are indicated, so it is understood that smells, etc., are called perceiving. If it is not so, then smells, etc., are not included in the objects of seeing, etc., and it is not possible to apply names to them, this is reasoning. Briefly, this sutra has a different meaning, so it is not a basis. The Blessed One did not teach the characteristics of names in this sutra. If so, what is the meaning? Here, you, in these six objects, for the four names of seeing, etc., only apply the names of seeing, etc., and do not cling to the characteristics of loveliness and unloveliness, this is the meaning of the sutra.
