The past and the future are ungrasped. Form, smell, taste, and the element of touch, which arise in the present and are not different from the senses, are grasped. The others are ungrasped, such as what is present in hair, body hair, nails, teeth, etc., except for the roots, and what is present in feces, urine, saliva, mucus, blood, etc., and what is present in earth and water, etc. What is the meaning of "grasped"? It is because benefit and harm harmonize with each other, and the mind and mental factors closely grasp the object of support, which is what is called "sentient being" in the world. One of the five elements is the nature of the elements. Which one is transformed from the elements? There are two kinds of touch: the elements and what is transformed from the elements. Among them, there are four elements. What is transformed from the elements is seven kinds, such as softness, because it exists in the elements. The remaining nine forms are transformed from the elements, namely the five sense realms and the four objects. These nine realms are only transformed from the elements. The dharma realm is also transformed from the elements, and is called non-manifestation. The remaining seven mind realms, and the dharma realm except for non-manifestation, are neither. Venerable Buddha Deva says that the ten sense bases are only elements. But this is not the case, because the sutra says that there are only four elements, and it is definitely considered to have the characteristics of hardness, etc., and they are also touch. The eye, etc., do not grasp hardness, etc., and the body's senses do not grasp color, etc. The sutra also says, "Bhikkhu, the eye is the inner sense base, caused by the four great elements, it is form, it is visible, invisible, obstructive, and so is the body." "Bhikkhu, forms are the outer sense base, caused by the four great elements, it is visible, visible, obstructive." "Bhikkhu, sound is the outer sense base, caused by the four great elements.

That which is caused, is form with obstruction but invisible. Smell and taste are also the same. Bhikshus, the touchables are external sense sources, namely the four great elements, and that which is caused by the four great elements, which is form with obstruction but invisible. Thus it is said, because the touchable sense source only gathers the elements, so the rest are not elements, this is clearly and universally shown. Then, in the sutra it says: What is the hard part in the lump of flesh of the eye? This is only shown as such on the lump of flesh that is no different from it. In the Entering the Womb Sutra it says: Bhikshu, this is the sixth element. This is to show the basis of sentient beings' substance, and also because it says there are six touch sense sources, and because the mental factors would become non-existent. It is not reasonable to claim that the mind itself is the mental factors, because the sutra says: The dharma of perception and thought, this is the mental factor, relying on the mind. And because of the arising of the mind with desire and so on. Therefore, the arising of the elements and the transformation from arising are as said. What are the accumulated and what are not accumulated? The ten forms are accumulated. The five sense faculties and the five sense objects, because they are aggregates of fine particles, so they are accumulated. Among the eighteen realms, what is the cutter, what is to be cut? What is the burner, what is to be burned? What is the measurer, what is to be measured? The cutter is what is to be cut. The four external realms are: form, smell, taste, and touch, such as axe and wood, etc. What is the dharma of cutting? It is the arising that distinguishes the continuous arising of aggregates. The body's sense faculty and so on are not to be cut, because if the limbs are completely cut off, they cannot be divided into two parts. The sense faculties cannot be divided into two, because there is no sense faculty on the cut limb. The cutter

Nor is it, because it is as clear as the light of a jewel. Just as the cutter and what is to be cut are the four external elements, so too are the burner and what is to be measured. Those themselves are what is to be burned, and those themselves are what is to be measured. The faculties are not, because they are clear, like light. Nor is sound, because it is cut off. There are different opinions about burning and measuring. Some say that those four elements themselves are both the burner and what is to be measured. Some say that only the fire element is the burner, and only heaviness is what is to be measured. How long are the realms born from Vipāka? How long are the realms born from growth? How long are the realms born from similar causes? How long are those with substance? How long are the momentary ones? It is said: Born from Vipāka and, Born from growth, the five internal realms. For the time being, the five internal realms such as the eye are both born from Vipāka and born from growth. There is no cause born from a similar cause, because there is no similar cause other than those. Among them, what is born from the cause of Vipāka is born from Vipāka, because the intermediate word is not manifested, like what is called a bullock cart. Or, the action that has reached the time of fruition is called Vipāka, because it will ripen. What is born from that is born from Vipāka. The fruit is Vipāka itself, so it is Vipāka. Or, this is establishing the fruit on the cause, for example, establishing the cause on the fruit, these six places of contact should be known as past actions, just as it is said. What is increased by the differences of food, good deeds, sleep, and samādhi are those born from growth. Others say that celibacy also increases, but that only does not harm, it is not growth. The continuum of growth, for the continuum of Vipāka, must be completely guarded as if it were the rear. Sound has what is born from growth and what is born from similar causes.
