Because it is not necessary, it is impossible. The basis of the senses of nose and tongue is necessary. Therefore, it is possible for these to exist even without senses. Even without necessity, the senses will manifest and be accomplished, for example, like those who are bound to die in the womb. Although it is not necessary, it is not without cause. What is the cause of the arising of the senses? It is the distinction of karma accompanied by craving for the senses. Whoever is free from craving for objects is undoubtedly also free from craving for the senses. Therefore, it is not appropriate for the senses of nose and tongue to arise for those who are free from attachment to their objects. Or, why would the male organ not be accomplished? Because it would make it unsightly. Why would the testicles of the scrotum sinking inward become unsightly? It is not produced because of need either. What is it then? It is produced because of cause. If there is a cause, it will occur even while making it unsightly. Then, is it not contradictory to what is said in the sutra that the senses are without defects and are not non-existent? There, those senses that exist are not without senses, so what contradiction is there in this? If it were not so, then the male organ should also exist. It is said that craving arises universally for the six sense bases through the door of the body, but not through the door of the object. Therefore, the senses of nose and tongue exist, but not odors and tastes. The male organ is sexual

It is coexistent with defilements. The rest are with defilements. The remaining fifteen realms are all unified and coexistent with defilements. What are those with investigation and analysis? What are those with no investigation but only analysis? What are those with neither investigation nor analysis? Those with investigation and analysis are the five consciousness aggregates. These are always associated with investigation and analysis, just as looking outwards is coarse. The word "is" means definite. The last three are three kinds. The last are the mind realm, the dharma realm, and the consciousness realm. These three are three kinds, among which the mind realm and the consciousness realm, and the dharma realm that is different from and associated with investigation and analysis, are with investigation and analysis in the desire realm and the first dhyana. Special dhyana is without investigation but only analysis. From the second dhyana onwards, up to the peak of existence, and all that is not associated with the dharma realm, and the analysis of special dhyana are without investigation and without analysis. Investigation is always without investigation but only analysis because there is no second investigation and it is associated with analysis. The three kinds of analysis of the desire realm and the first dhyana are not included among these, so what should be said? Because there is no second analysis and it is associated with investigation, it is without analysis but only investigation. Therefore, in the ground of investigation and analysis, there are four kinds of dharmas, those with investigation and analysis are those that are not associated with investigation and analysis. Those without investigation but only analysis are investigation. Those without investigation and without analysis are the non-associated ones. That without analysis but only investigation is called analysis. The rest abandon both. The rest are the ten form realms, because they are non-associated, so always investigation

Those that are without examination and analysis. If the five aggregates of consciousness are those with investigation and analysis, then how can they be said to be without investigation? Certainly, they are of investigation and recollection. Investigation is non-investigation. It is said that investigation is of three types: intrinsic nature, definite investigation, and recollection investigation. Therefore, they have investigation of intrinsic nature, but others do not. Therefore, they are said to be without investigation, just as calling a horse with only one leg as having no legs. Among them, investigation of intrinsic nature is investigation, which will be explained below from among the mental factors. What is the nature of the others? In order, they are: they are the mind's wisdom distracted, all the mind's memories. The wisdom that is similar to consciousness is called of the mind. That which is not in equipoise is called distracted, which is the investigation of definite investigation. The mind's memory itself, whether in equipoise or not in equipoise, is all investigation of recollection. Which are those with objects? Which are those without objects? Those with objects are the seven realms of mind. The realms of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and consciousness, and the realm of mind, these seven realms of mind are those with objects because they grasp objects. The source of phenomena is also with objects, which is the nature of mental factors. The remaining ten realms of form, and that which does not belong to the category of the realm of phenomena, are established as being without objects. Which are those that are grasped? Which are those that are not grasped? There are nine that are not grasped. Which nine? The seven with objects, plus half of the eighth, which are those that are spoken of, these eight and sound. Therefore, the seven realms of mind, the realm of phenomena, and the realm of sound, these nine realms are not grasped. The other nine realms are of two types: both grasped and not grasped. Among them, eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and those that arise now are grasped.
