What is it like? It is merely that they have made good use of it, but it is not a vow. Therefore, vows are only for gods and humans. Among them, humans have three. Humans have all the vows, including the vows of individual liberation. For the gods born in the desire and form realms, there are vows born of meditation. The vows of meditation exist in the gods born in the desire and form realms, but not above. The uncontaminated is: Apart from those with special meditation and unconscious beings, even if born in the formless realm, there are also uncontaminated vows. They exist in terms of association, but not manifestly. Because this is based on the teaching of karma, from here onwards, the karmas taught in the sutras will be explained. There are three types of karma: virtuous karma, non-virtuous karma, and unspecified karma. Karma, pleasure and displeasure, and others, virtue and non-virtue are others. This is the nature of virtue and so on. Happy karma is virtuous because it temporarily and permanently completely liberates from suffering, and it enables one to attain desirable results and Nirvana. Non-virtuous karma is non-virtuous because it is related to undesirable aspects, and its maturation is undesirable. Different from these two, what is neither pleasure nor displeasure should be understood as different from virtue and non-virtue, which is called unspecified. Also, merit, non-merit, immobility, experiencing pleasure, etc., are three. There are three types of karma: merit and non-merit, and immobility. There are also three types: karma that will experience pleasure, karma that will experience suffering, and karma that will experience neither pleasure nor suffering. Among them, for the time being, merit is associated with virtuous karma in the desire realm. Immovable is born from the upper realms. Virtuous karma refers to the virtuous karma practiced in the form and formless realms, which is immovable. The Blessed One said: There are many kinds of this.

If someone asks, 'Isn't it said that the noble ones consider investigation and analysis to be wavering?' It is said that way because they consider the samadhi of those (meditations) to have flaws. In reality, those (meditations) are called unwavering because they start from the path that is in accordance with the sutras of unwavering. Furthermore, why is it said that only the (karma) associated with wavering is unwavering elsewhere? Because in those places, the reason for the maturation of karma is unwavering. The karma performed in the desire realm is wavering because they do not remain in the same place; one destination will mature into another destination, and one divine realm will mature into another divine realm, such as changes in size, strength, color, happiness, and enjoyment, etc. These karmas will mature among the gods, but sometimes they will mature among humans, animals, and hungry ghosts due to other causes. The karma performed in the form and formless realms can never mature in other places. Therefore, because maturation is abiding, it is called unwavering. In the world, non-virtuous karma is said to be unwholesome. Why bother to explain what is already well-known in the world? The karma of merit, etc., has already been explained. Next, the experience of happiness, etc., will be explained, and that is all. The virtuous karma between the three dhyanas will experience happiness. The virtuous karma between the three dhyanas will cause one to experience happiness, so this is the place of the experience of happiness, such as the desire realm and the three dhyanas. Above the three dhyanas, one will experience neither suffering nor happiness. Combined with happiness, the virtuous karma above the three dhyanas will cause one to experience neither suffering nor happiness, because there is no feeling of happiness or suffering there. Experiencing suffering, the evil karma of this place. Unwholesome karma will cause one to experience suffering. The reason for mentioning 'this place' is to indicate that this only exists in the desire realm.

English

The result of these is not just feeling. What is it like then? It is aggregate. Some say that there is also an intermediate feeling below. Others say that the karma that will be experienced, which is neither happiness nor suffering, exists even below the fourth dhyana. Why? Because, from the perspective of the special maturation of dhyana, if it is not like that, then there would be no maturation of the karma of special dhyana? No karma would mature into special dhyana, because there is no happiness or suffering there. Some say that the maturation of the karma of special dhyana is only the faculty of happiness of dhyana. Others say that its maturation is the absence of feeling. This contradicts the scriptures, because the scriptures say, is there only the feeling of mind that matures as the maturation of karma? Yes. Karma without conception is virtuous, it says. Because of wanting the three to mature without before and after. If so, is it possible for the maturation of these three karmas to mature without before and after? Yes. What will be experienced as happiness is form. What will be experienced as suffering is mind and mental factors. The karma that will be experienced as neither happiness nor suffering is non-associated compositional factors. It says so, and because of this, there is also karma below that will be experienced as neither happiness nor suffering. There is no simultaneous possession of the maturation of the three karmas other than in the desire realm. Now, from what is it virtuous? Or is it non-virtuous? It is virtuous, but not of small power. If so, then, up to the third dhyana is virtuous, what is called 'will experience happiness', and what is called 'maturation is desirable' is virtuous, this contradicts these. That should be regarded as the majority of the teachings. If so, how can karma that is not of the nature of feeling be called 'will experience happiness'? It is in accordance with what will be experienced as happiness, or, because this is what will be experienced as happiness, it is the feeling of happiness.
