There are also those that are not made up of all the limbs. Who takes the vows of a lay devotee, a lay practitioner, and a novice monk with small, medium, and large minds? There is no such thing as not protecting all sentient beings, because one obtains vows by abiding in a virtuous mind that follows all sentient beings, but not otherwise, because one has not separated from sinful thoughts. If one does not make five determinations, namely, sentient beings, limbs, places, times, and lives, one obtains the Pratimoksha vows. The so-called "abandoning from a certain sentient being" is the determination of sentient beings. The so-called "abandoning from a certain limb" is the determination of limbs. The so-called "in a certain place" is the determination of place. The so-called "until a certain month" is the determination of time. The so-called "except for fighting" is the determination of life. If one takes it in this way, it will only become a well-practiced act. How does one obtain vows from those who cannot do it? Because one promises with the intention of not harming the lives of all sentient beings. The Vaibhashikas say that if one only obtains vows from those who can do it, then sentient beings who can and cannot do it will transform each other, so they will have increase and decrease. In this way, even without the cause of obtaining and abandoning, one will obtain and abandon vows. It is not like that, just as when grass and so on that did not exist before grows or withers, the vows will not increase or decrease, even if the able and unable transform each other, it will not change. Sentient beings existed before and exist later, but grass and so on do not exist. What does it matter if it becomes impossible and exhausted? When one is completely liberated from samsara and becomes completely non-existent, how can the vows not decrease? This answer is not acceptable. Therefore, the previous reason is better. In that case, if the previous sentient beings become Buddhas and are completely liberated from samsara, then how will the later Buddhas not have fewer vows because they did not obtain the Pratimoksha vows from them? Because everything is obtained from all sentient beings. If
