arrogance arises. Towards others, hatred also increases in the same way. If subtle craving is not abandoned, And the object is near at hand, And non-virtuous thoughts, The causes of affliction are complete. If in the desire realm, except for ignorance, All afflictions have latent tendencies. If in the form and formless realms, Only subtle craving is the existing latent tendency. This is non-committal, looking inward, For the sake of meditative absorption, combined into one. Since the root is ignorance, Therefore, it is separately shown as latent tendency. The combination of water flows is also the same, For the sake of clarifying the gods, it is shown separately. Those that are not latent tendencies, without companions, After establishing, they do not conform. As previously said, together with ignorance, Are the close grasping, namely the two views. For the sake of separating, ignorance, Is not grasping, therefore it is mixed. Because those are subtle, And the two that are related afterwards increase, And follow, therefore, It is said to be subtle craving. Those are able to establish, able to be latent tendencies, able to carry, able to adhere, And able to closely grasp, therefore latent tendency, etc., Are the meanings of those words. Those are due to pervasive combination, etc., Differences, and are also said to be five types. Because the substance and superior understanding are the same, The two views are outside of pervasive combination. Because both are one, Non-virtue is autonomous, therefore, Jealousy and stinginess, from those, Separately, pervasive combination is said to be two types. The five types that conform to the lower division, The two do not deviate from desire, The three are able to cause return. Because they are held by the door and the root, they are three types. Not wanting to go, and wrong path, And hesitation on the path, there are so many. Obstructing the path of liberation, Therefore, it is shown as three types. The five types that conform to the upper division, Born from the form and formless realms, The two types of craving, agitation, pride, ignorance, The three bound by the power of feeling. Other than affliction, those with affliction, Mental events, aggregates of action, called aggregates, Those are also near afflictions, Those are not called afflictions. Shamelessness and lack of shame, Jealousy, stinginess, agitation, Regret, drowsiness, sleep, And latent tendencies, there are eight types. Anger and concealment are due to craving, Shamelessness, agitation, stinginess arise. Concealment and contention are from ignorance, Drowsiness, sleep, and lack of shame. Hesitation gives rise to regret and anger.

Jealousy arises from the cause of anger. Furthermore, there are six defilements of affliction: Deceit, flattery, arrogance, Likewise, resentment and holding grudges, And the cause of harming and arrogance, Arise from desire, holding grudges and Harming arise from anger. Resentment arises from holding supreme views. Flattery is instigated by views. From that arise shamelessness and Lack of embarrassment, dullness-sleep, and excitement-two. Other than that, it is to be abandoned by cultivation. Self-nature is also like that, The defilements. In the desire realm, two kinds of non-virtue. Above that is unindicated. In the desire realm and the first dhyana, Deceit and flattery are because Brahma is enticing. Dullness-excitement-arrogance are in the three realms, Others are born from the desire realm. To be abandoned by seeing includes sleep and pride. It is the aspect of consciousness. Close afflictions are also self-natured, Others rely on the six consciousnesses. With pleasure and desire, Correspondingly, hatred is the opposite. All ignorance, And nihilistic views, joy, suffering, And displeasure and doubt. Other joys arise from the desire realm. Equanimity and faith, etc., are higher grounds. As their respective grounds, Regret and jealousy, anger, And harming, holding grudges, Resentment, displeasure, Stinginess, etc., are the opposite. Flattery and deceit, concealment and both, Both are associated with pleasure, Arrogance and equanimity are universal. Other than the four are the five, In the desire realm, obscurations, etc., are incompatible, Because food and actions are the same. The two and one harm the aggregates, Because of doubt, there are five. Completely knowing the object, And the object as it is. Through exhaustion and abandoning the object. Generating the antidote will exhaust it. The four antidotes are abandoning, And the basis and existence, in various ways Called refutation, from the object. Afflictions are considered to be abandoned. Different natures, different directions. Object, aspect, cessation, and time, Arising and discipline, direction and, Two times are like long. Those that are exhausted at once. The attainment of separation is also again and again. Generating the antidote and attaining the result, And in the roots of increase, etc. Completely knowing nine in the desire realm, The first ones are two exhaustions and one. The two exhaustions are those two. Likewise, those of the higher grounds are three
