Why is it called the Mountain King Surrounding Mountain? The answer is: Those directions of the Mountain King Surrounding Mountain are like having golden wheels, which other places do not have. Moreover, the Mountain King Surrounding Mountain surrounds the four continents like a wheel. Therefore, it is called the Mountain King Surrounding Mountain. The height of Yoke Wood Mountain is shown to be 40,000 yojanas. Plow Handle Mountain is 20,000 yojanas. 10,000 yojanas is Sandalwood Tree Mountain. The height of Pleasing to the Eye Mountain is shown to be 5,000 yojanas. Horse Ear Mountain appears to be 2,500 yojanas. The number of 1,250 exceeds Good View Mountain. The height of Holding Axis Mountain is shown to be 625 yojanas. On the other side of this ocean, which ocean surrounds it? The circumference is 300 yojanas, plus 13 and a half yojanas. That is what is said about the Surrounding Mountain. In all the intervals in the middle of the world, the sun and moon, as well as the stars and constellations, are all vast. They will not exceed the Surrounding Mountain, and all the intervals in the middle of the world are in darkness. Holding Axis Mountain and Good View Mountain, as well as Horse Ear Mountain and Pleasing to the Eye Mountain, Sandalwood Tree Mountain, Plow Handle Mountain, and Yoke Wood Mountain, these seven mountains are the essence of mountains, made of gold. Mount Sumeru and other mountains all rely on a golden foundation. This is the twelfth chapter of Establishing the World.
