ཏེ་འཁོད་པར་བྱ་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས་སོ། །དེ་དག་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་ཀྱེ་མ་བདག་ཅག་ནི་སྲོག་གཅོད་པ་ཡིན་གྱི་བདག་ཅག་གིས་མཚོན་ཆས་སྲོག་གཅོད་པ་སྤང་བར་བྱའོ་ཞེས་ནས་དེ་དག་མཚོན་ཆས་སྲོག་གཅོད་པ་སྤང་ངོ༌། །ཚེ་ལོ་བཅུ་པའི་མིས་མཚོན་ཆས་སྲོག་གཅོད་པ་སྤོང་བ་དེ་དག་གི་བུ་དང་བུ་མོ་བཙས་པ་རྣམས་ཚེ་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་ཐུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །ཚེ་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་པའི་མི་རྣམས་འདི་སྙམ་དུ། ཀྱེ་མ་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་རྣམས་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཚེ་ཡང་ནུར་ལ་ཁ་དོག་དང་སྟོབས་དང༌། བདེ་བ་དང་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དག་ཀྱང་འཕེལ་བར་སྣང་གི །ཡང་ལྷག་པར་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་འགའ་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ། འཁོད་པར་བྱ་ན་བདག་ཅག་གིས་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་གང་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ་འཁོད་པར་བྱ་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས་སོ། །དེ་དག་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་ཀྱེ་མ་བདག་ཅག་ནི་མ་བྱིན་པར་ལེན་པ་ཡིན་གྱི། བདག་ཅག་གིས་མ་བྱིན་པར་ལེན་པ་སྤང་བར་བྱའོ་ཞེས་ནས་དེ་དག་མ་བྱིན་པར་ལེན་པ་སྤོང་ངོ༌། །ཚེ་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་བའི་མི་མ་བྱིན་པར་ལེན་པ་སྤོང་བ་དེ་དག་གི་བུ་དང་བུ་མོ་བཙས་པ་རྣམས་ཚེ་ལོ་བཞི་བཅུ་ཐུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏེ། དེ་དག་ལས་ཁ་ཅིག་ནི་ཚེ་ལོ་ལྔ་བཅུ་ཐུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །ཚེ་ལོ་ལྔ་ བཅུ་པའི་མི་རྣམས་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་ཀྱེ་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་རྣམས་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཚེ་ཡང་ནུར་ལ་ཁ་དོག་དང་སྟོབས་དང་བདེ་བ་དང་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དག་ཀྱང་འཕེལ་བར་སྣང་གི །བདག་ཅག་གིས་ཡང་ལྷག་པར་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་འགའ་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ་འཁོད་པར་བྱ་ན། བདག་ཅག་གིས་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་གང་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ་འཁོད་པར་བྱ་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས་སོ། །དེ་དག་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་ཀྱེ་མ་བདག་ཅག་ནི་འདོད་པ་ལ་ལོག་པར་གཡེམ་པ་ཡིན་གྱི། བདག་ཅག་གིས་འདོད་པ་ལ་ལོག་པར་གཡེམ་པ་སྤང་བར་བྱའོ་ཞེས་ནས་དེ་དག་འདོད་པ་ལ་ལོག་པར་གཡེམ་པ་སྤོང་ངོ༌། །ཚེ་ལོ་ལྔ་བཅུ་པའི་མི་འདོད་པ་ལ་ལོག་པར་གཡེམ་པ་སྤོང་བ་དེ་དག་གི་བུ་དང་བུ་མོ་བཙས་པ་རྣམས་ཚེ་ལོ་བརྒྱ་ཐུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །ཚེ་ལོ་བརྒྱ་པའི་མི་རྣམས་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་རྣམས་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཚེ་ཡང་ནུར་ལ། ཁ་དོག་དང༌། སྟོབས་དང་བདེ་བ་དང༌། ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དག་ཀྱང་འཕེལ་བར་སྣང་གི །བདག་ཅག་གིས་ཡང་ལྷག་པར་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་འགའ་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ་འཁོད་པར་བྱ་ན། བདག་ཅག་གིས་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་གང་ཞིག་ཡང་དག་པར་བླངས་ཏེ། འཁོད་པར་བྱ་སྙམ་དུ་སེམས་སོ། །ད་དག་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་ཀྱེ་བདག་ཅག་ནི་བརྫུན་དུ་སྨྲ་བ་ཡིན་གྱི། བདག་ཅག་གིས་བརྫུན་དུ

便想著要安住於善法之中。他們便這樣想著：唉呀！我們是殺生者啊！我們應當捨棄以武器殺生。於是他們便捨棄了以武器殺生。壽命十歲的人們捨棄了以武器殺生，那些人所生的兒子和女兒們，便能活到二十歲。壽命二十歲的人們這樣想著：唉呀！因為如實受持善法之故，壽命也增長，而且容貌、力量、安樂和受用等也增長了。如果我們更加如實受持一些善法，安住於善法之中，我們應當如實受持何種善法，而安住於善法之中呢？他們便這樣想著：唉呀！我們是不與取者啊！我們應當捨棄不與取。於是他們便捨棄了不與取。壽命二十歲的人們捨棄不與取，那些人所生的兒子和女兒們，便能活到四十歲。他們之中有些人能活到五十歲。壽命五十歲的人們這樣想著：唉呀！因為如實受持善法之故，壽命也增長，而且容貌、力量、安樂和受用等也增長了。如果我們更加如實受持一些善法，安住於善法之中，我們應當如實受持何種善法，而安住於善法之中呢？他們便這樣想著：唉呀！我們是行邪淫者啊！我們應當捨棄行邪淫。於是他們便捨棄了行邪淫。壽命五十歲的人們捨棄行邪淫，那些人所生的兒子和女兒們，便能活到一百歲。壽命一百歲的人們這樣想著：因為如實受持善法之故，壽命也增長，而且容貌、力量和安樂，以及受用等也增長了。如果我們更加如實受持一些善法，安住於善法之中，我們應當如實受持何種善法，而安住於善法之中呢？他們便這樣想著：唉呀！我們是說妄語者啊！我們應當捨棄妄語。

They thought of abiding in virtue. They thought, "Alas, we are killers! We should abandon killing with weapons." So they abandoned killing with weapons. The sons and daughters born to those people with a lifespan of ten years who abandoned killing with weapons lived to be twenty years old. People with a lifespan of twenty years thought, "Alas, because we have truly taken up virtuous practices, our lifespan has increased, and our appearance, strength, happiness, and enjoyment have also increased. If we were to take up and abide in some additional virtuous practices, what virtuous practices should we take up and abide in?" They thought, "Alas, we are takers of what is not given! We should abandon taking what is not given." So they abandoned taking what is not given. The sons and daughters born to those people with a lifespan of twenty years who abandoned taking what is not given lived to be forty years old. Some of them lived to be fifty years old. People with a lifespan of fifty years thought, "Alas, because we have truly taken up virtuous practices, our lifespan has increased, and our appearance, strength, happiness, and enjoyment have also increased. If we were to take up and abide in some additional virtuous practices, what virtuous practices should we take up and abide in?" They thought, "Alas, we are those who engage in sexual misconduct! We should abandon sexual misconduct." So they abandoned sexual misconduct. The sons and daughters born to those people with a lifespan of fifty years who abandoned sexual misconduct lived to be one hundred years old. People with a lifespan of one hundred years thought, "Because we have truly taken up virtuous practices, our lifespan has increased, and our appearance, strength, happiness, and enjoyment have also increased. If we were to take up and abide in some additional virtuous practices, what virtuous practices should we take up and abide in?" They thought, "Alas, we are liars! We should abandon lying."
