In this way, in the world of humans and non-humans, those who hold to 'me,' those who hold to 'him,' those who hold to the ascetics, those who hold to the Brahmins, those who serve the elders in their lineage, those who are altruistic, those whose actions are virtuous and bring happiness, those who perform meritorious deeds, those who fear the faults of this life and the next, those who give alms and perform meritorious deeds, those who abide in the observance of fasting, and those who dwell having taken pure vows, when these increase, it is the beauty of the Dharma for humans! The conditions have ripened! Excellent! Auspicious! Thus, the assembly of the gods will increase, and the assembly of the non-gods will diminish, so it is said. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, knowing that the retinue of the gods was exceedingly joyful, happy, and that a pleasant mind had arisen, at that time, he spoke in verse: This is the eighth day of the half-moon, Likewise the fourteenth and fifteenth, Also in the half-moon of miracles, On the eight-limbed fast, Those who abide here in perfect equanimity, I will become like them. Monks, Indra, the lord of the gods, said this: Here on the eighth day of the half-moon, Likewise the fourteenth and fifteenth, Also in the half-moon of miracles, On the eight-limbed fast, Those who abide here in perfect equanimity, I will become like them. Thus, the verse that was spoken is wrongly spoken, not well spoken. It is wrongly praised, not well praised. It is wrongly expressed, not well expressed. Monks, why is that? Because Indra, the lord of the gods, is one who possesses attachment, possesses hatred, possesses ignorance. He has not been completely liberated from birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and agitation, and I say that he has not been completely liberated from suffering. Therefore, he said: Here on the eighth day of the half-moon, Likewise the fourteenth and fifteenth, Also in the half-moon of miracles, On the eight-limbed fast, Those who abide here in perfect equanimity, how will I

Transforms accordingly. Saying this in verse is bad speech, not good speech. It is bad praise, not good praise. It is bad language, not good language. Monks, if a monk is an Arhat, his defilements are exhausted, he has done what needs to be done, he has done what should be done, he has abandoned the burden, he has attained his own benefit, he has completely bound to existence, he has completely exhausted, and his mind is completely liberated by perfect knowledge, then he says this: Here on the eighth day of the half-month, Likewise the fourteenth and fifteenth, Also on the half-month of miracles, On the eight-limbed Uposatha, Here, abiding in perfect equanimity, I transform just as I am. If he speaks this verse, it is separate speech, but not bad speech. It is good praise, not bad praise. It is good language, not bad language. Monks, why is that? That monk is free from desire, free from hatred, free from delusion. He has completely freed himself from birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, and mental unhappiness, and he is completely freed from suffering. Therefore, he says this: Here on the eighth day of the half-month, Likewise the fourteenth and fifteenth, Also on the half-month of miracles, On the eight-limbed Uposatha, Here, abiding in perfect equanimity, I transform just as I am. If he speaks this verse, it is good speech, not bad speech. It is good praise, not bad praise. It is good language, not bad language. Thus he spoke. In the vicinity of Jambudvipa, on the path of the Chakravartin king, one yojana is spread with gold sand, and the water of the great ocean covers it up to the knees. When the Chakravartin king appears in the world, the water of the great ocean dries up and disappears for two yojanas. From where the Chakravartin king goes to the continent, that is the Chakravartin.
