Therefore, if there is doubt that giving is wrong, there is no fault. If, because of abandoning universal clinging, there is doubt that the benefactor will become poor and destitute, there is no fault. If there is doubt that it belongs to the Sangha or a stupa, there is no fault. If there is doubt that it was unreasonably seized from others, and because of this reason, those people will be killed, imprisoned, punished with penalties, harmed, or degraded, there is no fault. Do not give to those who desire Dharma. If a Bodhisattva, towards others who desire Dharma, always has a mind of annoyance, or has a mind of anger, or is naturally jealous, and does not give Dharma, then there will be fault and contradiction, and it will become a fault of affliction. If one does not give because of laziness and sloth, there will be fault and contradiction, but it will not become a fault of affliction. If one does not give to heretics seeking opportunities, there is no fault. There is no fault for those with severe illness and mental confusion. If one wants to subdue with that method, and wants to be subdued, and wants to lead from the unwholesome to the wholesome, there is no fault. If one does not understand the Dharma, there is no fault. If one does not give to those who are disrespectful, impolite, and receive with bad behavior, there is no fault. If the Dharma teacher shows the vast Dharma to those with dull faculties, fearing that they will be frightened, have wrong views, strongly cling to wrong views, be harmed, or decline, there is no fault. If one leaves for that reason, suspecting that the Dharma will increase to others who are not vessels, there is no fault. Abandon those who are immoral. If a Bodhisattva, because sentient beings are wicked, and because those who are immoral are wicked, and because of the reason that those who are immoral are wicked, always has a mind of annoyance, or abandons with a mind of anger, or despises, there will be fault and contradiction, and it will become a fault of affliction. If one abandons because of laziness and sloth, or despises because of forgetfulness, there will be fault and contradiction, but it will not become a fault of affliction. What is the reason for that? Because a Bodhisattva is mind

Towards those who are unruly, those who have broken their vows, and those who dwell in the cause of suffering, how one approaches with a mind of compassion and a desire to act, is not the same as towards those who possess discipline and whose actions of body, speech, and mind are peaceful. There is no fault in a disturbed mind. There is no fault in wanting to subdue them by that method, as before. There is no fault in protecting the minds of many others. There is no fault in protecting the discipline within the Sangha. One does not study for the sake of others' faith. Actions for the sake of sentient beings are small. The Bodhisattva, because the Blessed One, for the sake of protecting the minds of others, for the sake of making the unfaithful faithful, and for the sake of causing the faithful to increase, whatever is established from the Vinaya of individual liberation, including transgressions, studies in the same way as the Hearers, without making distinctions. Why is that? Because the Hearers are only focused on their own benefit, they also, in order to make the unfaithful faithful, and to cause the faithful to increase, cannot but protect the minds of others, if they study those trainings, what need to mention the Bodhisattvas who are focused on the benefit of others? The Blessed One, because the Hearers have few purposes, few actions, and dwell in small-mindedness, does not study those established transgressions in the same way as the Hearers. Why is that? Because the Hearers are focused on their own benefit and do not consider the benefit of others, because from the benefit of others, those who have few purposes, few actions, and dwell in small-mindedness are beautiful, the Bodhisattva is focused on the benefit of others, from the benefit of others, having few purposes, few actions, and dwelling in small-mindedness is not beautiful. For example, the Bodhisattva, for the sake of certain beings, should take hundreds or thousands of robes from Brahmins and householders who do not come near, and if there is an opportunity, he should examine whether those beings are sufficient or not, and then take as much as he suspects. As for robes, so also are begging bowls. How to take
