If it happens like that, then, would a Bodhisattva who has properly taken the vows, be like a Bhikshu who has violated the Pratimoksha vows, and not have the opportunity to properly take them in this life? No, the vows should be taken again. This is what is said here. Therefore, the vows should be taken again according to the previously explained ritual. Or, there is another method, and it should be taken with that. That is, in the Bodhisattva-bhumi, if there is no one with those qualities, the Bodhisattva should properly take the Bodhisattva's precepts in front of the image of the Tathagata, like this, in front of the image, expose one shoulder, kneel with the right knee on the ground, or squat, and say this: I, named so-and-so, pray to the Tathagatas of the ten directions and all the Bodhisattvas dwelling on the great earth, and in their presence, I will properly take all the training rules of the Bodhisattvas, and all the precepts of the Bodhisattvas, that is, the precepts of discipline, the precepts of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the precepts of benefiting sentient beings, which all the past Bodhisattvas have learned, all the future Bodhisattvas will learn, and all the Bodhisattvas who appear in the ten directions now learn. Say this, say it two or three times and then stand up. All the rest should be understood as before. If there is no such person at the beginning, it should be taken like that. What has been said above is the ritual for repenting the faults arising from intense afflictions. If faults arise from moderate afflictions, what should be done? The sutra says: Medium sins, confess to three. That is to say, if a Bodhisattva is overcome by a medium entanglement and does something similar to a downfall, this is a Dukkrta sin, and should be confessed to three or more people of the Shravaka vehicle or the Bodhisattva vehicle, those who can understand and accept these words.

Confession should be made to the Sangha. Sitting in front, first state the matter. Say this: "Venerable ones, please listen. I, named so-and-so, from the basis of what is said, have violated the Bodhisattva's discipline and committed an offense. I confess and admit this to the venerable ones, without concealing it." Confessing and admitting will bring me peace, but not confessing and admitting will not bring peace. If you say, "Do you see these as faults?" one should answer, "I do." If you say, "Will you keep them in the future?" one should answer, "According to the Dharma and the Vinaya, I will accept it with the crown of my head." Say this two or three times. If, due to afflictions, one has committed acts similar to defeat (pārājika) in childhood, what should one do? One should say "the remaining" in front of one person. The remaining refers to the offenses committed in childhood due to ignorance, which belong to the category of offenses. These should be confessed in front of one person. State the matter as before, saying, "Venerable ones, please listen. I, named so-and-so," etc. Then, for the offenses that arise later, including those with and without afflictions, belonging to the category of offenses, such as not making offerings to the Three Jewels, etc., what should one do? Say, "Afflicted or unafflicted, like my mind." And combine it with "confess also in front of one person." Like my own mind, that is "like my mind." Like this, if there is no one who is compliant, one should confess in front of one's own mind, making one's own mind a witness, with shame, knowing disgrace, being gentle, peaceful, and determined not to commit them again in the future, just as confessing in front of one person, this is the concluding statement. By giving the example of "like my mind," it also explains other methods of rectifying offenses. The root text of the Bodhisattva's Pitaka also says that even if there is no suitable Bhikshu to confess to, the Bodhisattva should from the depths of his heart

Therefore, one should generate the mind of not creating offenses, and also protect oneself afterwards. If done in this way, one will be purified from that offense. This method should also be understood for those faults arising from the previously mentioned medium and small offenses. If asked, what are the afflictive and non-afflictive offenses? Then, I will begin to explain these in detail. Someone said, "Do not make offerings to the Three Jewels." Thus, a Bodhisattva who abides in the precepts of a Bodhisattva, even for just one day, to the Tathagata, or a stupa of the Tathagata, or the Dharma, or a scripture containing the Dharma, the Bodhisattva's Sutra Pitaka, the mother text of the Bodhisattva's Sutra Pitaka, or the Sangha, whether it is the Sangha of great Bodhisattvas gathered from the ten directions, with the intention of offering to Bodhicitta or anything great, even if only making one prostration with the body, or based on the qualities of the Dharma and the Sangha, uttering just one four-line verse, or even if only one instance of faith preceded by remembering the qualities of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha in the mind, if one passes the day and night without doing so, then there will be an offense and a transgression. If offenses of disrespect, laziness, and indolence arise, then it will become an afflictive offense. If an offense arises from speech, then it will become a non-afflictive offense. There is no offense for mental disturbance. Following the mind of desire. All things called offenses should be connected, because all of these are misdeeds. Therefore, in the precepts of a Bodhisattva, only two types of offenses arise: those belonging to the category of things like defeat, and those belonging to the category of misdeeds. It is not like the precepts of a Bhikshu, where five types of offenses arise. Therefore, if a Bodhisattva develops strong desire, is not content, and accepts attachment to gain and respect, then there will be an offense and a transgression, and it will become an afflictive offense. In order to abandon it.
