, there is no fault in abandoning those unpleasant, mentally painful, and anxiety-filled thoughts. There is no fault in stopping in time. If it is deemed inappropriate to engage in fighting, exposing shortcomings, arguing, and quarreling because of these, there is no fault. There is no fault in seeing the Sangha divided and scattered. If those beings are unwavering and mostly know shame and have a sense of decency, and can quickly reconcile, there is no fault. Do not use miraculous powers to intimidate, etc. Bodhisattvas possess miraculous powers, transformations, and various abilities. They intimidate those beings who should be intimidated, and guide those beings who should be guided. If, in order to prevent giving with faith, they use miraculous powers to intimidate or do not guide, it becomes a fault and a violation, and it becomes a fault of affliction. If beings are mostly attached to non-Buddhists, slander the noble ones, and hold wrong views, there is no fault even if they are not taught. For all beings, especially those who are mentally disturbed, suffering, and tormented by feelings, and those who have not taken vows, it should be understood that there is no fault. Therefore, Bodhisattvas abiding in the Bodhisattva vows should understand what will become a fault, what will not become a fault, what is afflicted, what is not afflicted, and the differences between small, medium, and large. From the very beginning, one should generate respect and not create faults. Even if a fault arises, one should confess it according to the Dharma and be liberated from the fault. On the path of Bodhisattva faults, not everything will become a fault. The faults of Bodhisattvas, as the Bhagavan said, mostly arise from hatred and not from desire, and this should be understood. Regarding this, it should be understood that Bodhisattvas cherish beings and treat them with compassion. Whatever they do is the action of a Bodhisattva. There is nothing that should not be done, and if one does what should be done, there will be no fault. Bodhisattva

To hate brave sentient beings is not acting for the benefit of oneself and others. That is not the activity of a Bodhisattva, and doing what should not be done in that way is likely to become a fault. To show that very thing, because of having compassion and love, there is no fault in a virtuous mind. This is what is said. May all beings, through the merit I have gained from composing the commentary on the Twenty Verses, have all their ignorance and dimness dispelled, and like youthful Manjushri, become the lineage of the Buddha, striving in the work of sentient beings' benefit, like gathering the treasure of virtue that perfects the ocean of discipline. Commentary on the Twenty Verses, composed by the teacher Shantarakshita, is complete. The Indian abbot Vidyakarasimha and the revising translator Manjushrivarma translated, revised, and finalized it. Commentary on the Twenty Verses. Shantarakshita.
