and is at fault, becoming a fault of affliction. If one is negligent and lazy, it becomes a non-afflictive fault. If one is sick and unable, there is no fault. If one fears that the instruction will go wrong, there is no fault. If one is very learned, can one keep the mind steady? If he has already done what should be done by instructing with the instruction, there is no fault. One does not abandon the obscuration of meditation. If a Bodhisattva experiences the obscuration of desire and does not eliminate it, it becomes a fault and a contradiction, becoming a fault of affliction. In order to abandon it, even if desire arises and one strives, if the mind is overwhelmed by strong afflictions and one practices it universally, there is no fault. Just as desire is desired, so too should hatred, dullness and sleep, excitement and regret, and doubt be understood in the same way. Viewing the taste of meditation as a virtue. If a Bodhisattva experiences the taste of meditation and also views experiencing the taste of meditation as a virtue, it becomes a fault and a contradiction, becoming a fault of affliction. If desire arises in order to abandon it, there is no fault, as before. Abandoning the Hearer Vehicle. A Bodhisattva, whichever Bodhisattva, should not listen to teachings that are in accordance with the Hearer Vehicle. One should not hold it. Nor should one train in it. What is the use of a Bodhisattva listening to and holding teachings that are in accordance with the Hearer Vehicle? One should not train in it, if one thinks and says so, it becomes a fault and a contradiction, becoming a fault of affliction. Because a Bodhisattva should even strive in the treatises of non-Buddhists, what need is there to mention the words of the Buddha? In order to dispel the intention of definitely focusing on this, there is no fault. While having one's own nature, one strives in it. If a Bodhisattva, while having the Bodhisattva's collection, does not strive in the Bodhisattva's collection, but completely abandons all of the Bodhisattva's collection, and strives in the Hearer's collection, there is fault and
