The object of clinging to names, from the fourfold examination to the ultimate truth, everything is not existent, it is merely the conceptualization of children. The so-called "taste" is because there is no wisdom of the noble ones. The so-called "examined by evil thoughts" is not beyond conceptualization. These are criticisms of yogis who do not go beyond conceptualization, which is the meaning of the third verse. The praise beyond this is the meaning of the fourth verse. The meaning of the Mahayana is summarized as follows, as it is said in the 'Holy Lankavatara Sutra': "Five dharmas and nature, the self of the eight consciousnesses, the objects of the two selflessnesses, encompass all of the Mahayana." Among them, the five dharmas are name, characteristic, conceptualization, suchness, and correct wisdom. Here, the sound that abides in the expression of the mind is name. Meaning is characteristic. Conceptualization is the non-true pervasive thought. Suchness is emptiness. Correct wisdom is the wisdom that transcends the world. The two selflessnesses are the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena. These are the wisdoms arising from hearing that have become as they are. The Blessed One said that all dharmas are without self-nature, what is this like? Because form is empty of the self-nature of form, up to the dharma of the Buddhas is empty of the self-nature of the dharmas of the Buddhas. Holding onto the self-nature of what, beings will think "this is form," and regard it as inseparable from the self-nature of form, therefore that form is the self-nature of form. However, if it is merely a name, or becomes the general form that is no different from the name, then that name is not its essence, therefore it is empty of its self-nature. The essence of the general characteristic, because it prevents non-momentariness, therefore it does not exist in its own nature, and the non-difference from the name is also completely non-existent, therefore it is fundamentally not the essence of form, therefore the self-nature of form makes form emptiness.

Zhin du, until the Dharma of enlightenment. If the very nature of things becomes merely the object of words and conceptualizations, without things, those would not exist. Therefore, things like many kings being honored in the past, and the future appearance of a wheel-turning king named "Dung," etc., would not occur, lying and wrong views would also disappear, and the debate over whether sound is permanent or impermanent would not arise, because contradictory things cannot exist in the same thing. Therefore, things do not have a nature that is approximated by names, so they themselves are without nature. The *Lankavatara Sutra* says, "By what and what names, What and what dharmas are expressed, That is not in that, It is the nature of all dharmas." Here, the explanation in the *Thirty Verses* is, "By what and what discriminations, What and what things are discriminated, That is the completely imputed, Nature, therefore it is without." The Blessed One also said, "External forms do not exist, One's own mind appears as the external." And, "Sons of the Victorious Ones, this triple world is only mind." Mind, intellect, consciousness, and discernment are all different names. Therefore, all dharmas are of the nature of mind-only. Because they are separated from the nature of the grasped and the grasper, they themselves are without nature. If it is said that these are of the nature of mind-only, then what is the reason for this? It should be said that because all dharmas are established through personally experiencing their own self-illuminating essence, and illumination is divided into extreme illumination, distinct illumination, and ongoing illumination. It is also not material, not hidden, but completely manifest. If it is established, then nothing will appear, therefore everything will become unestablished. If it is established, then it itself is knowledge, therefore all dharmas will be established as the nature of knowledge. Here, practitioners say that the dharma of the object to be grasped is manifest.
