The commentary of Rājavarman says: Extremely peaceful, unmoving, and supreme, it is supreme; controlling, unmoving, and supreme. The bliss of non-discrimination is obtained from that Bodhisattva. This is the verse. Abiding in great bliss, one will also attain vast expansion. With a great and perfect mind, abiding in vast expansion; the great wisdom of knowledge being vastly expanded; abandoning teachings being vastly expanded; and the great deeds of benefiting sentient beings being vastly expanded, these too will be attained, this is the commentary. Here, because there is no affliction, it is extremely peaceful. Because there is no deterioration, it is unmoving. Because it is superior to other pleasures, it is supreme. Because it manifests as desired and as much as desired, it is controlling. Because it is similar in kind to other pleasures, it is equal. Because it is distinguished by these four distinctions, it is also unequal. The action from that comes from the wisdom of non-discrimination. Greatness and abandonment are vast. Entering through that samādhi is abiding. A perfect mind is the nature of meditation and so on. Teaching is the exposition of the Dharma. The act of benefiting is the subduing of afflictions, and being extremely vast is being empowered over them. From the instructions of the Perfection of Wisdom, the fourth stage is the ground of formless yoga. These realizations are spoken by the Bhagavan in the 'Descent into Lanka Sutra' in three verses: Relying on mind-only, one should not investigate external objects. Focusing on suchness, one should also eliminate mind-only. Having eliminated mind-only, one should also eliminate from the absence of appearance. In the yoga abiding in the absence of appearance, one will see the Great Vehicle. Spontaneously accomplished, one enters into peace. Purified by aspiration, supreme wisdom, selflessness, one will see the Great Vehicle. Thus it is said. Also, in the Glorious Guhyasamāja, the same is spoken in one verse: If one examines one's own mind, all dharmas abide well in the mind. This dharma abides in the vajra of space, without dharma and dharmata. Thus it is. In both, the first of yoga will be shown by implication.

, therefore, as long as all dharmas are not grasped as being these, they will not be able to grasp emptiness. Therefore, completely determining that all dharmas are these is the first stage of yoga. Grasping those walls, and particularly inclining towards mere mind that is empty of grasping, along with appearance, is the second. On that, because of particularly inclining towards the non-appearance of the characteristics of all dharmas, viewing like clarity is the third. On that, seeing because all the characteristics of dharmas and dharmata are completely non-apparent is the fourth. There, what is called "mere mind" is the knowledge that focuses on mere mind. It is the meaning of what is called the second stage of yoga. "Should not be examined" means that for its examination, the objects outside the first stage of yoga, and that one should transcend the other, is the meaning. "Suchness object" means that with whatever wisdom one focuses on suchness, it is the meaning of the third stage of yoga. "From mere mind, even after repetition," means that it is learning the previous one again, it is not establishing what was not there before. "Should repeat from non-appearance," means that it is the establishment of what was not there before. Here also, what is called "non-appearance" means that the characteristics of dharmas do not appear, it is the meaning of focusing on suchness. If asked how one transcends it, abiding in non-appearance, possessing the ability to see with the characteristics of dharmas and dharmata completely non-apparent, it is the meaning of abiding in the fourth stage of yoga. The word "yogi" should also be added to the previous ones. "He" means the yogi who abides in the fourth stage of yoga. "Mahayana" means that because one goes by this it is a vehicle, and because it is superior to the vehicle of the hearers and self- buddhas it is great, it is the stainless path of the bodhisattvas. Seeing it is direct realization, because that wisdom itself is the Mahayana. If this Mahayana, how does one go? Who will go where? Therefore, the third verse was spoken, "spontaneously accomplished" means

Effortlessly transferring to the lands beyond the world. Called peaceful because those lands themselves are without afflictions and without conceptualization. Completely purified by aspiration, which means negating places inferior to enlightenment. This shows how to go. Called wisdom without self because there is utterly no appearance. Called noble because all obscurations are abandoned together with their imprints, which refers to the bodhicitta of the Buddha. That will be seen by the yogi of that Great Vehicle, it will be directly realized. This shows who goes where. Again, examining the mind, which is the second of yoga. Thoroughly abiding means all phenomena are appearances of one's own mind, having ascertained that the minds of these self-nature beings themselves appear even though they do not exist. Called space vajra, which are two without appearance. Abiding therein means abiding in the non-appearance of phenomena and suchness in sequence. Therein, the non-appearance of the nature of phenomena is the third ground, and the non-appearance of the nature of suchness is the fourth ground. These are the verses of realization from the pith instructions on the Perfection of Wisdom. Having arisen from listening, contemplating, and meditating, the wisdom of the prior union goes to the other shore. From what I have thus explained, the four things that have become like stainless space, by whatever virtue is obtained from that, may I obtain the state of the Sugata, and may all beings possessing various faculties be liberated by the three vehicles! The Pith Instructions on the Perfection of Wisdom, composed by the great Paṇḍita Ratnākaraśānti, is complete. Translated, edited, and finalized by the great Paṇḍita Śāntarakṣita and the great translator of Zhuchen, Gö Lhetsé. The Pith Instructions on the Perfection of Wisdom. Ratnākaraśānti.
