Speaking of conduct and so on, it refers to the arts and crafts and the collection of illusory minds. Because one focuses on stopping feelings such as tranquility and enters another state, how can there be manifestations of conduct and so on? This is a word of refutation. Furthermore, it is said "without touch" and so on, and the so-called "manifestation" refers to the manifestation of conduct and so on, which should be connected to "how can there be?" The so-called "how can there be?" refers to the fact that there is nothing at that time, and it means when the cessation attainment manifests. Furthermore, in order to show that this is also unreasonable, it is said "the nine successive abidings of meditative absorption" and so on. The so-called "nine successive abidings of meditative absorption" refers to the four concentrations, the eight formless absorptions, and the cessation attainment, which are the nine successive abidings of meditative absorption. The so-called "eight liberations" refers to the eight liberations of seeing forms, etc., that have form. Among them, there is also the cessation attainment, because it is said in the sutras, "Having realized the cessation of perception and feeling with the body, one abides having accomplished it." Furthermore, it is also necessary to say "relying on the peak of existence attainment" and so on. This discussion of "the peak of existence" and so on temporarily explains how to manifest the cessation attainment, and later refutes it with "what is its object and aspect?" and so on. The meaning of power should be understood as the meaning of reliance. These two methods are established by the scriptural proof of "how" and so on. "The realm without characteristics" is a synonym for the cessation attainment. Cause and condition should be understood as the same meaning here. Alternatively, the proximate cause is the condition, and the cause is other lineages. The so-called "non-attention" is not entering. The so-called "how is it not virtuous" means that it is only virtuous. If that is virtuous

English

If one thinks it is so, therefore, it is said "even if it is virtuous" and so on. Here, the word "how" should also be added. If one thinks that this is also desire itself, therefore, it is said "even if it exists similarly," and this is added in the same way. If the object is cessation, even if it is not the aspect of peace, if its object and aspect may change to something else, therefore, it is said "however" and so on. The word "how" should be connected with "the mind can be distracted." The object and aspect in the samadhi of the mind without characteristics is another. At the end of the mind of practice, it will become distracted. Therefore, the absence of characteristics is in accordance with practice, so it is a double cause, thus it is shown to be contrary to this. In that case, without showing the scriptures for the time being, the four ways are too broad and unreasonable. If someone doubts that others here will say "however, it will become another unshown scripture," therefore, it is said "for the sake of those two themselves" and so on. "For the sake of those two themselves" means that because it is said "the nine samadhis that abide in order," and "relying on the samadhi of the peak of existence," and so on. Having widely refuted the views of others in this way, therefore, the conclusion is made with "therefore" and so on. Third Chapter. With "then" and so on, others are asking the teacher, if the samadhi of cessation is unreasonably connected with the mind of the mental consciousness, then, you must also say what kind of mind it is connected with. This is the summary of the words. Isn't this something that must be eliminated without hesitation? Or who would ask that way? Like this, the teacher did not say that it was connected with the mind, if he said that, it is not so, the teacher also only acknowledges it with the measure of the scriptures, because it is said "consciousness does not leave the body." Therefore, that is "kina." "Like some Sautrantikas think" means that it is connected with the mind in that way

Wanting, etc., is the remainder. This shows the aspect that the teacher approves of. The term "some" refers to those who contemplate the characteristics of the first, distinguishing the aspects of Dharma. This is a summary term. Some Sutra masters who speak of "how," etc., are others. Those who speak of "Vipāka-vijñāna (karmically ripened consciousness)," etc., are the teachers. "Vipāka-vijñāna" refers to the consciousness called "Vipāka (karmically ripened)." The term "all seeds" refers to the ability to generate Dharma such as virtue. The term "from the moment of self-linking" means, in the mother's womb, the self-linking, the semen and blood coagulating, the karmically ripened consciousness becoming intoxicated, from that point onward, is a summary term. The term "in this and that birth" refers to beings such as humans. The term "uninterrupted" means to connect without interruption. The term "becoming different due to different causes of karmic ripening" is a summary term referring to differences due to different virtues, etc. The term "until Nirvana" refers to reaching the end of Nirvana, that is, the exhaustion of Nirvana, a summary term. The term "continuous entry" means continuous. The term "that" refers to the nature of consciousness of karmic ripening, etc., just explained, such as that, is a summary term. The term "at that time" refers to the time of entering cessation. The term "not ceasing" is a summary term meaning not separating and not stopping. Therefore, the term "therefore" is because consciousness is not reasonable. The term "with mind" means with consciousness. The term "the other six aggregates of consciousness do not enter" refers to the aggregates other than karmically ripened consciousness. Why do they not enter? Because it is said, "Therefore, the power of those consciousnesses is lost," that is, because the power of eye consciousness, etc., is lost. What caused the seeds to be lost? Therefore, "cessation," etc., is said. The term "entering mind" should be understood as the connecting mind, that is, what makes it manifest. How long is the time?
