Therefore, the teacher also said, by what is the seed of the fruit nourished? According to the statement that the past exists, etc., the teacher himself shows the extreme of other sects, because the future, like what happens now, is the nature of accomplishment. This is to say that the fruit will be produced. Furthermore, there are other faults such as permanence, etc. From where This is its fruit, etc., these should also be said. Therefore, etc., is the conclusion. The teacher extensively prohibits the colored actions of body, etc., which are good, etc. The Vaibhashikas think of other aspects with good and non-good, etc. The continuum of aggregates refers to the continuum of mind, not the self, because the self should not exist. To generate another dharma means to generate only another nature other than mind and mental factors, not to subdue itself. Some say, etc., is to show this meaning with terms known to other sects, in order to generate certainty about it. Some say that it is called "accumulation," etc., which refers to the Mahasanghikas, who use the word "accumulation" to refer to such a nature. Others say that it is called "non-decaying," etc., which refers to the sect revered by the majority, who also use "non-decaying" to refer to it within their own sect. If there is doubt as to what valid cognition establishes the existence of such another dharma, in order to show that it is established by the inference of the fruit, it is said from where there is fruit in the next life, etc. If something exists, something arises, then that cause is what existed before, etc., the meaning of the valid cognition previously stated should also be observed here. Therefore, how can one believe that only other dharmas that can accomplish pleasing fruits, etc., are generated?

To explain this, it is mentioned, "If no other dharma arises in the mind-stream," and so on. The phrase "If one accepts it without doubt" is a conclusion. "Then," and so on, is to refute the teacher's view that there is a mistaken other dharma, showing that the reason is not established. That is to say, for the time being, for us, the statement "If there is another dharma, then the arising of desirable fruits, etc., will occur" is not established. Why? Because it may be due to prior habituation, so the reason is not established. Furthermore, it can be understood that the arising of fruit is solely due to prior habituation. For example, this also occurs with objects such as scriptures. That is not the case. Because others have not taken another dharma from that object, how does the fruit arise? The term "habituation to scripture" is synonymous with "familiarity." "For other things, such as seeing" refers to the things of seeing, hearing, distinguishing, and knowing. Why? Because it is connected to "the arising of memory." "For it" refers to scriptures, etc. "What dharma does habituation produce?" is saying that because others have not accepted another dharma apart from objects such as virtue, it does not produce it. Furthermore, it should be said, "In which moment," and connect it to "produces." The meaning is, does it produce in the first moment, or does it produce in the second moment? If someone says it produces in the first moment, then once habituated, it produces another dharma, so habituation is meaningless after that. If it is said that it produces in other second moments, etc., that is unreasonable, because it has been shown that there is no difference in the cause. It should be understood that "In which moment" is to refute those who say there is no moment. If that is not the case, because the moment itself has a difference in the cause, how can it be refuted? Seeing, etc., that

, it should be connected to "what dharma or which moment arises." This should also be connected to everything as before. Later, refers to another time. If asked, what dharma or which moment arises from the mind entering into cessation samadhi, etc.? It should be connected to all of these, and what is said here is also the same as before. "The flower of Madhulunga," etc., you should also say these others. Habituation means attachment. "Extinguished together with it" means extinguished together with the flower of Madhulunga. "In its fruit" refers to the fruit of Madhulunga, meaning "what dharma arises?" The answer is: it does not arise. In this way, the teacher has extensively argued how it is unreasonable for the Vaibhashikas to produce other dharmas. Now, in order to explain another view of the Sautrantikas, therefore, it is said, "How are other dharmas that are pervasively contemplated," etc. The flower of Madhulunga, with the bile of peacock, etc., as examples, is easy to understand. Then, "the actions of body and speech also," etc., is the refutation by the Vaibhashikas. They say this: other dharmas that are not associated with the mind, if they cannot become the cause of producing fruit, then they cannot become the cause. However, just as the mind can subdue its own mindstream, why can't the actions of body and speech also subdue it? This is to explain this point. Like this, "that is," etc., is the answer of the Sautrantikas. "That is" refers to the actions of body and speech. Saying "depending on the mind, it transforms into good and non-good" means that it transforms into good, etc., depending on the mind that initiates it, but not by itself. If it is allowed that depending on the mind, the actions of body and speech transform into good, etc., then what will happen? Therefore, it is said, "what by what," etc. "What" refers to the actions of body and speech. "By what" refers to good and non-good.
