Moreover, it is also said in the "Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes" that the minds and mental factors of the three realms are unrealistically imputed. The so-called "discrimination" and "pervasive discrimination" are the same meaning. Why is discrimination called "other-powered"? Because it is said "by other causes and conditions" and so on. Just like this, because it is dominated by other causes and conditions, it is called "other-powered." "Domination" means the same as "producing" and "creating." In order to explain this more clearly, it is said "causes and conditions other than oneself" and so on. Because this is easy to understand, it is not explained. In order to connect with the following text, it is said "the other-powered has been explained" and so on. This meaning is just a conjunction. What is it? It is said "establishment is relative to its former" and so on. In short, that which is completely separated from the imputed and the other-powered is the nature of the perfectly established. How is it perfectly established? It is said "unalterably perfectly established" and so on. Just like this, it has no change, therefore it is perfectly established. In order to explain the meaning of the limbs, it is said "for it" and so on. This "for it" is related to the other-powered. The "former" is related to the imputed. Because for discrimination, there is attachment to the reality of the grasper and the grasped, so it is connected in this way. Why is it called imputed for the grasper and the grasped? It is said "for it, like this, for it" and so on. Just like this, for discrimination, even though there is no grasper and grasped, it is pervasively attached, therefore both are called imputed. After explaining the meaning of the limbs, in order to explain the summarized meaning, it is said "the grasper and the grasped, and" and so on. The grasper and the grasped just mentioned, and that which is completely and eternally separated from the other-powered is the nature of the perfectly established. In this way, the nature of mere consciousness itself has three natures. Just like this, mere consciousness itself is the other-powered nature.

Therefore, whatever is imputed to the grasped and the grasper is the nature of the completely imputed. And whatever is eternally separated from these two is the nature of the perfectly established. So, is this perfectly established different from other-powered, or is it not different from other-powered? Therefore, in order to refute the statement that "it is other-powered," it is said that "therefore, it is." In this way, whatever is the nature of the completely imputed, and whatever is constantly separated from other-powered, is considered to be perfectly established. Separation itself is called the nature of reality. If this nature of reality is examined, it can neither be said to be different nor non-different. This perfectly established is the nature of reality of other-powered. Therefore, it should be understood that the perfectly established is neither different from other-powered nor non-different from other-powered. Why? Therefore, it is said, "If," etc. In this way, if the perfectly established is different from other-powered, then the completely imputed will not make other-powered empty. In that case, things will become different entities. Therefore, how should it be included in this? The nature of reality should be included, just as impermanence is included in sounds, etc. In order to reveal the fault of the second case, it is said, "If it is not different," etc. If the perfectly established is not different from other-powered, then the perfectly established will not become the object of purification, because other-powered is completely the nature of affliction. Just as it is not an object, so is the perfectly established. If other-powered is also not completely afflicted by the nature of affliction, then because it is not different from the perfectly established, it is the same as the perfectly established. Here, the path is indicated by the word "purification." In order to illustrate the example of not saying "it is that" or "a different entity," it is said, "Say like impermanence, etc." In order to refute it, it is said, "For example, impermanence itself," etc., because it is easy to understand, so it is not explained. In order to reveal the fault of impermanence being "it is that" or "a different entity," it is said, "If from conditioned phenomena," etc.
