It was not said. Now, in order to strongly prove the vow that "apart from the transformation of consciousness of all phenomena and self-nature, there is no external object," therefore, it is said, "This transformation of consciousness," and so on. Whatever is transformed into consciousness is discrimination; whatever objects are discriminated by discrimination, all of them are non-existent. Therefore, in short, all these cycles of existence are only consciousness. In order to show the meaning of the limbs, it is said, "The three kinds of transformed consciousness that were just spoken of," and so on. That meaning is merely a connection of words. In order to show the self-nature of discrimination, with the meaning of superimposition, it is said, "By discrimination," and so on. From that, the manifestations of the meaning of superimposition arising from the minds and mental factors of the three realms are all called discrimination. In order to take the Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes as a source, it is said, "As it is said," and so on. From that, the minds and mental factors of the three realms are all unreal, completely conceptualized. Why is it said that what is transformed into consciousness is discrimination? Therefore, it is said, "The three kinds of discrimination," and so on. Like the alaya-consciousness and so on, together with the corresponding co-existents, those three kinds of discrimination that discriminate objects such as pots, etc., do not exist in the true sense. Therefore, what is transformed into consciousness is called discrimination, just as its object is not a real thing. If those who speak of external objects do not believe, and ask, "How do you know that its object is non-existent?" The one who establishes the tenet says, "Whatever is the cause of something," and so on. If the cause of something that is desired is not contradictory to the aggregation, then it will arise; otherwise, it will not. This is how it is. Consciousness can also become meaningless things like illusions, etc. Therefore, consciousness arises from meaningless things, so I know.

So! If the arising of consciousness depends on the object of perception, then, at that time, illusions and the like become meaningless, and consciousness will not arise. In order to show the reasoning of consciousness by means of summarizing, therefore, it is said, "The same as the previous cessation," and so on. Thus, consciousness does not depend on external objects. Therefore, consciousness arises from the aspect similar to the previous cessation, not from external objects, because even without external objects, consciousness arises. Thus, the incomplete is temporarily shown, and in order to show some parts, it is said, "Those who discriminate even things that are not different in meaning," and so on. For the discrimination of those who discriminate even one thing, the aspects of taste and desire, as well as food, etc., appear to be mutually inconsistent. This will become like this: If only one thing produces multiple consciousnesses, then, therefore, it is said, "One is," and so on. One thing cannot be the nature of many mutually contradictory things. Thus, therefore, it should be understood that because it is a fabricated aspect, there is no object of discrimination. In order to show the conclusion, it is said here, "Temporarily," and so on. The extreme of fabrication is eliminated by the words without an object of discrimination. That is, wanting to eliminate the extreme of slander, therefore, it is said, "Therefore, all this is only consciousness," and so on. In order to refute it, it is said, "Therefore" is "Therefore," and so on. The discrimination of such a nature, whatever I and things are falsely established, does not exist in the true meaning. Discrimination exists. Therefore, the object does not exist, but discrimination exists, so everything is only consciousness. In order to show the meaning of the limbs, it is said, "Everything," and so on. The three realms and the unconditioned are shown as the sound of everything, which is the concluding word. Whatever the word "only" is, it is for cutting off the object that is superior to consciousness. The word "-pa" here does not mean small, short, appearance, or praise.
