When desire and so on arise for a real object, then there is no samadhi, because its object is something to be examined. When desire and so on arise for an uncertain object, then there is no aspiration, because its object is a certain object. Therefore, how can it be said that they arise without being mutually different? In order to show the connection with the following, it is said that "the specifically determined have all been explained," etc., because it is easy to understand, it is not explained. In order to show the virtues, it is said that "faith and shame exist in anger," etc. In order to show the number of these, it is said that "they are eleven dharmas," etc., because it is easy to understand, it is not explained. In order to show the nature of faith, it is said that "that faith is," etc., that is, for virtuous and non-virtuous actions, and for desirable and undesirable results, and for the truths of suffering, etc., and for the Three Jewels such as the fully enlightened Buddha, whatever is trust, purity, and desire, that is faith. Thus, faith has three aspects. In order to show the difference in the objects of trust, etc., it is said that "is the object virtuous?" etc., whether it is virtuous or not, whatever exists, for that which exists itself, there is faith in the form of trust, and for that which exists and has virtues, there is faith in the form of faith, and for that which exists and can obtain virtues, or can produce virtues, there is desire in the form of desire. In order to show the nature of purity, it is said that "the mind is pure," etc. Thus, purity is incompatible with the defilement of the mind, therefore, if it exists similarly to it, there is no defilement of the stains of afflictions and near afflictions, and the mind becomes pure relying on faith. Therefore, it is called mind purity. The sound of mind defilement refers to the habitual tendencies of afflictions. In order to show its function, it is said that "it is the functioner that serves as the basis for desire." This is wanting to enter...

It is the action of arising. Having such faith, the desire to obtain the object of power arises, and one desires to enter into it. In order to show the nature of knowing shame, it is said, "Knowing shame is," and so on. Relying on oneself and the Dharma, whatever arises as a fear of wrongdoing is called knowing shame. If one wants to know what kind of wrongdoing it is, it is said, "The noble ones reproach," and so on. Like this, the noble ones reproach and the undesirable ripening, therefore sin itself is called wrongdoing. Whether done or not done, whatever wrongdoing causes the mind to be discouraged, that is grasping, and that itself is called knowing shame. In order to show this function, it is said, "This is," and so on, meaning that it has the function of preventing evil deeds. In order to show the nature of having shame, it is said, "Having shame is," and so on. Relying on the world, whatever is fear of wrongdoing is having shame. Like this, in the world, this is reproach, if I do such a thing, the world will reproach, therefore one fears wrongdoing because of the fear of unpleasantness. Reproach is belittling. Non-verse is speaking in an unpleasant voice. In order to show the function, it is also said, "This also," and so on, that meaning is just a particle. It is said, "Non-attachment is," and so on, whatever Dharma becomes the antidote to attachment, that is non-attachment. If one wants to know what attachment is, it is said, "Attachment is," and so on, whatever is attachment and desire for samsara and the resources of samsara, that is attachment. Its antidote is non-attachment. Therefore, there is no attachment to samsara and its resources, elephants and horses, etc., not partial, not wanting, not desiring, this shows non-attachment. In order to show non-hatred, it is said, "Non-hatred is," and so on, whatever Dharma becomes the antidote to hatred, the nature of loving-kindness is non-hatred. If one wants to know what hatred itself is, it is said, "Hatred is," and so on, towards beings who harm, etc.

Anguish and the cause of anguish, such as poison and thorns, whatever mind is tormented by these is hatred. The absence of hatred is the antidote to hatred, therefore, one should regard sentient beings and anguish and the cause of anguish as being of a nature free from all torment. In order to indicate the function, it is said, "This also," etc., the meaning of which is merely a verbal particle. In order to show the absence of delusion, it is said, "The absence of delusion is," etc., that which is the antidote to delusion, the dharma of the nature of understanding things as they are, that here is the absence of delusion. If one wonders what delusion itself is, it is said, "Delusion is karma and fruit," etc., whatever does not understand karma, etc., that is delusion. The absence of delusion is its antidote, therefore, one should regard it as the nature of understanding truth, etc. By saying, "This also," etc., the function is indicated, the meaning of which is merely a verbal particle. In order to show the nature of diligence, it is said, "Diligence is," etc. That which is the antidote to laziness, joy in virtuous action, that is diligence. However, joy in afflicted action is not diligence, because joy in afflicted action is blameworthy, therefore, it is laziness, not diligence. Because of attachment to blameworthy things, that also is laziness. Therefore, there are two kinds of laziness, namely, the characteristic of idleness and joy in affliction. In order to indicate the function, it is said, "This is," etc., this is what completely perfects and accomplishes the side of virtue. If one wonders what pliancy is, it is said, "Pliancy is," etc., that which is the antidote to inflexibility, the pliancy of body and mind, that is pliancy. If one wonders what inflexibility is like, it is said, "Inflexibility is," etc., the inflexibility of body and mind is called inflexibility. Or, the seed of all afflicted dharmas is inflexibility. If one wonders why, it is said, "If it is not there," etc., for example, all
