Becoming intoxicated with liquor mixed with grain alcohol is a reversal from the state of heedlessness. According to the Sarvastivadins, the explanation of the meaning of each word in each of the training bases is explained in detail, that is, from the categories of the meaning of the word, the definition and the definitive word, and the four characteristics of the detailed explanation. When explaining the detailed explanation, if the statement "drinking alcohol is a fundamental transgression" appears, it is also contrary to the scriptures. Which scripture does it contradict? It contradicts the detailed explanation of the content of "the four misdeeds of the body." The four misdeeds of the body are killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, and drinking intoxicating liquor mixed with grain alcohol. Why? Because for those who commit fundamental transgressions, it is not said that they are misdeeds, only for those who have the nature of fundamental transgressions is it said that they are misdeeds. As for the phrase "until enlightenment," as it is said in the Prajnaparamita Sutra, "Subhuti, form is unreal. Subhuti, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are unreal." Thus, it is said extensively, even "until enlightenment is also unreal." What is the ignorance that the Blessed One spoke of? It is not understanding the limits of the past. Thus, it is said extensively, and the nature of all dharmas is also shown. Therefore, if it is said that all dharmas are without self-nature, it contradicts the scriptures. "Because this exists, that exists; because this arises, that arises. Dependent on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises." Thus, arising and so on are also shown. Therefore, if it is said that all dharmas are unborn, it contradicts the scriptures. "All these formations are past, exhausted, ceased, separated, and completely changed." Thus, cessation is also shown. Therefore, if it is said that all dharmas are unceased, it contradicts the scriptures. If it is said that all dharmas are peaceful from the beginning and are completely nirvana by nature, this also contradicts the scriptures. For example: "Alas, all formations are impermanent.

Beginning with "the nature of arising and ceasing," and proceeding to the statement that "all of this arises from causes and conditions." Shariputra, form is without substance. Shariputra, even up to enlightenment, there is no substance. This teaching also contradicts the scriptures. Just as it is said, "form is impermanent," and so on, extensively. The word "etc." includes that karma exists, the ripening also exists, and the agent is not found. "For what is not grasped, it is destroyed," like this, it is only at the time of its present occurrence. On its own nature, the entity of its dharma is its own nature, it is on that. How is that entity said to be the agent? Just as how does it act on the action of arising, this "action" explains it as the agent. For example, because it causes to arise, it is said to be the one who causes to arise, like this, does the word "arising" mean that it is doing the act of arising? If asked why it does it, the answer is "it does." If it is the manifestor of what exists internally, if it is to manifest its own existence, therefore it is said to "do," if one thinks like this, then that entity, existing by the characteristic of self-arising, that existence itself is also the entity, for the entity, it will become the manifestor. For the moment, if the entity of the nature of arising itself does not exist, then what need is there to mention other existence? This discrimination is not good. Furthermore, whatever exists, that also possesses, how should it be said? Existence is possession. If existence is "doing," then does existence do the act of arising? Why does it do it? Just as it manifests itself to itself. If one thinks that it is manifesting itself, then in that case, arising becomes conditioned. For example, the essence of the sound of Anaju is like manifesting itself. Anaju is the manifestor, and it leads to activities such as smelling and going, this is conditioned. That existence is also the object to be manifested, therefore it becomes conditioned. Similarly, the essence of the sound of arising is also like that, arising is the action on existence, therefore to show that it is the object to be manifested, it becomes conditioned. Therefore, this is not conditioned.
