The word "tormented by afflictions" is like this. Not entering Nirvana is the second fault, which is indicated by the phrase "overwhelmed by the mire of complete indulgence." Going to the lower realms in the next life is the third fault, which is shown by extensively explaining "sinful and unwholesome dharmas." "Thus" is extensively explained as being as stated before. Among them, "sin" is extensively explained to mean that all afflictions, etc., are faults caused by others and oneself. Firstly, the fault caused by others is that sin is condemned by noble beings, because it is said so. The fault caused by oneself is that unwholesomeness is the meaning of unhappiness. This means that all afflictions and sentient beings themselves are associated with faults, thereby truly revealing it. That is, all afflictions themselves are associated with faults, and sentient beings are associated with faults, which shows that it should be condemned. Similarly, both also show unhappiness. For example, it is associated with disease and is the ripening result of suffering. In the nature of what is seen, being associated with the torment of afflictions is being associated with disease. For example, in the life that is happening now, one is tormented by afflictions, because it causes both body and mind to be tormented. Because it causes the body to be tormented, and because it causes the mind to be tormented. How is it the ripening result of suffering? Because one will fall into the lower realms in the next life. How is it? It is to experience birth, old age, and death. Birth, old age, and death are consistent with birth, old age, and death, because they lead to prolonged birth, old age, and death. A Bhikshu or Bhikshuni, whichever one, even if it is just a little bit, or for a moment, even for the time it takes to snap one's fingers, cultivates loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, this Bhikshu or Bhikshuni is acting according to the Teacher's teachings, not abandoning the practice.

Pa. Possessing superior insight. Making empty houses full. Diligently striving after one's own purpose. Practicing the same as the Brahmans, not blamed by the wise. It is called eating the alms of the settlement that has fruit, which is a section of the Sutra. The reason for practicing according to the teachings of the Teacher is to practice according to the words of the Blessed One. Therefore, strive in this way. How does one strive in this way? By not abandoning diligence. "Practicing the same as the Brahmans by the wise" means those who realize the same practice as the Brahmans, which is a synonymous term. The reason for making it with its fruit is to make it with the alms of the givers. In order to fully show the perfect practice to the Teacher, in order to practice according to his teachings, it is shown by the words "doing according to the teachings of the Teacher." To fully show the perfect practice from the teachings is because one always engages in superior actions, and by not abandoning meditation. In order to act without reversing, it is because of having superior insight. In order to act without distraction, it is because of making empty houses full. In order to act without knowing contentment, it is because of diligently striving after one's own purpose. It should be known that the superior action of a Bhikshu is meditation, which is what is shown as the reason for engaging in superior actions. With these causes, it is to fully show the perfect practice in the teachings. Furthermore, to show the perfect practice in the teachings by another method is to always meditate, and it is shown by the words "meditating without abandoning." In order to meditate without being afflicted, it is shown by the words "possessing superior insight." In order to meditate without interruption, it is because of making empty houses full. In order to meditate without knowing contentment, it is to follow one's own purpose and actions.
