It should be known. Because there is no falling away, it should be known as abiding. Because the agitation has ceased, it should be known as having attained immovability. That all activity is far removed, called remoteness, is to say that the afflictions of one's own ground and the afflictions of the near side, all those activities being far removed, is the synonym for remoteness. Effortlessness and arising as desired, is the synonym for effortlessness and arising as desired. Attaining immovability is as before. How so? The fourth dhyana is because it is free from all agitation. What is the summary verse like? Samadhi and abiding and rising, pleasant experience and sphere of activity, actualizing and corresponding, non-corresponding likewise both, birth and middle and likewise means, quiescence abiding holding equanimity. Samadhi and abiding and, words such as rising, these collections are from the Sutra Pitaka, saying the four dhyanas, saying the dhyani is skilled in abiding in samadhi, and there are also those who are not skilled in entering into equipoise, thus extensively explained. And again it is said: The dhyani is skilled in abiding in equipoise, and there are also those who are not skilled in abiding in samadhi. The dhyani is skilled in abiding in samadhi, and there are also those who are not skilled in abiding in equipoise. The dhyani is also skilled in abiding in samadhi, and there are also those who are skilled in abiding in equipoise. The dhyani is also not skilled in abiding in samadhi, and there are also those who are not skilled in abiding in equipoise, thus extensively explained up to the dhyani is also skilled in samadhi, thus extensively explaining the four possibilities. The other ground is the mind that has become manifest. Correspondence is in accordance with attainment, that is to say, whatever is in accordance with the attainment of samadhi, that is correspondence, therefore it is correspondence. Non-correspondence is not in accordance with that, that is to say, it is not in accordance with attainment. Desire is also the one who generates desire, possessing the desire of joy and pleasure, rejoicing in that and that, abandoning and forsaking all of that without remainder.

Abandoning and, exhaustion and, detachment from desire and, cessation and, peace and, extinction, these are called sections of the Sutra Pitaka. Why is the remainder an explanation? Because it is to universally show the abandonment of all stages, the so-called stage of abandoning elimination should be applied to all. Moreover, the so-called abandonment is indicated by this word. Elimination is the abandonment of arising afflictions with things that retreat backwards. The stage of abandoning suppression is with the word "abandoning." The stage of abandoning the path of seeing is with the word "exhaustion." The stage of abandoning the path of meditation is with the word "detachment from desire." The stage of abandoning the path of no more learning is with the word "cessation." The stage of abandoning all entanglements and the stage of abandoning latent tendencies are understood through the extensive explanation of "craving arises." The so-called "not speaking of even one kind" is a synonym for not speaking of even one kind of abandonment, etc. Such words, even if they are said to be different names, etc., the meaning is that even if the words abandonment, etc., are spoken of as different names, there is no fault, just as it was shown before. If asked: How is it so? Answer: If the different names spoken by the Buddhas were unnecessary, then there would be a fault. If asked: What is the necessity here? Answer: There are eight necessities, etc., extensively explained. Is a logician. Is a discriminator and, entering into debate and, possessing one's own courage and, possessing individual persons and, abiding in the place of deliberation following deliberation, these are called sections of the Sutra Pitaka. The so-called "by not exceeding its field of activity" means that because one does not exceed the field of activity of debate, one is a debater. Therefore, the extensive explanation of "discriminator and" etc., means that for what reason one does not exceed its field of activity, therefore one is a discriminator and, abiding in the place of entering into debate, this is what is said, and the so-called "place of those possessing their own courage" will be explained below, one's own courage.
