Thus, it prevents destruction. The third, namely "unreliable," prevents destruction at a fixed time. The fourth, namely "the nature of change," prevents destruction without change. Furthermore, the so-called extensive explanation is that one, namely from form being impermanent to consciousness being impermanent. Two, namely "unstable, unreliable," these two, in order, because they rely on the same kind and cannot abide for a long time, and because it is possible to die untimely, so they are unstable, unreliable, showing the impermanence of the continuous destruction of the two. The fourth is the so-called "nature of change." The so-called "first" extensive explanation is the impermanence of momentary destruction. What is indicated by its own words is the impermanence from form being impermanent to consciousness being impermanent, but the impermanence of continuous destruction and the impermanence of change are not indicated by their own words. Because it is the ultimate truth, the impermanence of momentary destruction is not the ultimate truth, because there is no continuity and change apart from the moment, so those two are not indicated by their own words. What is said here is the meaning of the extensive explanation, not destruction, long-lasting, is the phrase of the extensive explanation. That is, it prevents non-destruction, prevents long-lasting destruction, prevents timely destruction, and prevents unchanging destruction. As stated, the moment and life and, the three aspects of change and exhaustion are also shown, with the exhaustion of the moment, it shows the impermanence of momentary destruction. With the exhaustion of life, it shows the impermanence of continuous destruction. With the exhaustion of change, it shows the impermanence of change. Then, a monk went alone to a secluded place, and with proper attention in his mind, thought like this: Is there any form that is permanent, stable, constant, unchanging in nature, and can truly abide as such? Is feeling, perception, and formation also like that?

Are there any such things? What kind of consciousness is permanent, stable, constant, immutable, and truly and genuinely abiding? Is there such a consciousness? - Such an understanding arises in the mind, and this is a fragment from the sutras. If the former is impossible, then the latter is asked. For example, if the former, such as impermanence, is impossible, then the latter, such as stability, is asked. How is it asked? If there is no form that is permanent, because it does not perish in an instant, because it does not exist at other times, is there stability? Or, if there is no stability that exists at other times, is there constancy? Because the continuum does not cease, it will only be of the same kind as humans, etc., from life to life, and not others, that is its definition. Or, if there is no constancy as described above, because there is no change, in the same life, even from moment to moment, new things are constantly arising, but still arising without change, is there an immutable dharma? - That is the meaning. To explain in detail the perishing in an instant, etc., is because it does not perish in an instant, so the word "stability" is used to indicate "Is there a permanent form?", thereby inquiring about permanence itself. The first, "because there is no perishing in an instant, etc.", and the second, "because of the words stability, etc.", the word "constancy" is used to indicate "because the continuum does not cease", thereby inquiring about constancy itself, which is permanence itself. And the word "immutable dharma" indicates "because there is no change", thereby inquiring about no change itself, which is permanence itself. Thus, because there are no three kinds of impermanence, namely the impermanence of perishing in an instant, the impermanence of the continuum ceasing, and the impermanence of change, the three words stability, etc., are used to ask "What kind of form is permanent?", which is to ask with "truly and genuinely abiding". Another way to explain it is that the detailed explanation of "permanence is..." is to explain that it should be understood in this way: the two words pointed out in order are explained in order with the two words of explanation. Two words are with two words...
