Some repulsive signs should be remembered. Ananda, when a monk remembers some repulsive signs that are conducive to aversion, great joy arises. When great joy arises, joy arises. When the mind is joyful, the body becomes very pliant. When the body is very pliant, happiness is experienced. When happiness is experienced, the mind enters into equanimity. When the mind is in equanimity, Ananda, one should train like this: 'For whatever purpose I place my mind on external objects, having attained that purpose, I should gather my mind back.' This is the extensive explanation. The extensive explanation with the two distinctions of nature and time is because the perfection of being very young is fully explained by the distinction of nature. Also, the perfection of being very young is fully explained by the distinction of time. The very young state of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is created by happiness. The extensive explanation of what is called 'the remainder' is that because I am happy and playful, my father, the Shakya Suddhodana, built three palaces in the palace. This extensive explanation is a true praise of perfect happiness, which is an extensive explanation. Similarly, the extensive explanation is that these twelve with life are free. Which twelve? Personal accomplishment and the accomplishment of others, being born as a human, being born in the central country, having complete faculties, having no limit to wrong actions, having faith in the place of birth, the appearance of the Buddhas, the teaching of the sacred Dharma, the abiding of the teachings, following the abiding teachings, and having compassion for others. Among these, what is called being free is the nearness of the time to do one's own work. The twelve are formed by the two, the teaching and the explanation. How are they twelve? What is called personal accomplishment is the teaching. Its extensive explanation is by these five words: being born as a human, being born in the central country, having complete faculties, having no limit to wrong actions, and having faith in the place of birth. Similarly, what is called the accomplishment of others is the teaching. Its extensive

The explanation itself is "The Buddhas appear" and so on, using these five words that are extensively explained. What is meant by "the power of its meaning" is a synonym for the power of the meanings of words. Then, what is the necessary meaning of the various names that are mentioned? If it is said that it has already been explained before, then how is it? Because it is extensively explained that "there are eight necessities." The extensive explanation "those other than that" refers to those other than those that can be understood from the beginning. If you ask what those are, if explained in detail, they are those understandings that rely on words. For those, in order to accumulate the cause of understanding what was said at the beginning in another birth in the future, it is a synonym. What is meant by "those others" refers to those other than the Buddha. What is meant by "being accustomed to that kind of thing" is a synonym for being accustomed to the teachings and explanations. What is meant by "in order to generate that seed" is a synonym for generating the seed of the teachings that are brief and extensive. The extensive explanation "whichever mind" refers to whichever mind is defiled by the twenty-one near afflictions. For example, that person would think: I am pure and possess the most extreme purity, and the land of the mind that thinks in this way will also fall into evil destinies and bad paths, and will also be born in a lower body. If you ask what these twenty-one are, it is that the mind is defiled by near afflictions through wrong views, unreasonable attachment, greed, malice, dullness, sleep, excitement, regret, and doubt. The mind is defiled by near afflictions through anger and resentment, concealment, annoyance, jealousy, stinginess, deceit, pretense, arrogance, shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, pride, great pride, and carelessness. From "one dharma is cherished" to "ten" means, Venerables, one dharma is cherished, for example, having mindfulness towards virtuous dharmas. From then on, "ten dharmas are cherished, ten dharmas are protectors," Venerables, in this, the monk has firm faith in the Tathagata.
